Chapter 19: One on One

Nicole's P.O.V.

"So what do you want to do?" Nate asks with a smile.

"Want to watch a movie?" I ask, hoping we could watch the one I just turned on.

"Sure, but please, anything but 'Thumbelina,'" says Nate.

I give him a questioning look.

"What?" I ask.

"My six year old cousin is obsessed with that movie. She watches it three times a day! I've been forced to see it a thousand times I'm sure," Nate says and I struggle to hide a laugh.

"Well, I really want to watch this," I say pointing to the screen and the movie I already had on. "It's a chick flick but it's my favourite movie of all time."

"I'm secure enough in my sexuality to watch a chick flick with a cute girl," he says making me blush. "Make some room for me."

I smile and push over, leaving him a spot. He sat down beside me and puts his arm on the back of the couch behind my shoulders.

About halfway through the movie, my back started to hurt.

"Hey Nate," I say, hoping I wasn't going to be too much of a bother.

"Yeah?" he asks while looking at the screen.

"Could I lay down? My back hurts and I don't want it to get any worse," I explain.

"Sure thing," he answers with a smile. He put his back against the arm of the couch and twisted to face me. He opened his arms to me, almost like he wanted a hug.

I moved so I could lie down and my head ended up on his chest, his arms wrapped around me. I started to watch the movie again until, after about five minutes, I realized we were cuddling.

I was in Margaree, watching a chick flick, alone in the house, cuddling with the guy of my dreams. My life could not get better.

"I don't want to leave Nate," I say. "Can we just stay here forever?"

"I wish," Nate gives a light laugh. "It's hard to believe we're leaving tomorrow." He hugged me a bit tighter. I felt that feeling only Nate could make me feel.

"Oh well," I laugh. "Can we get up and do something? I'm getting kind of bored."

"But I don't know how it ends!" Nate fake complains.

"Well," I say. "It turns out the old couple are the young couple like sixty years later and the old lady can't remember anything or anyone, so he reads her the story from the book that was actually their story so she will remember and then they die in their sleep."

"Okay," he says. "That kind of depressing, let's go do something to cheer us up." I marvel at his sarcastic grin that somehow, manages to be incredibly sexy and cute at the same time. Oh boy, I was loosing it.

"Like what?" I ask laughing.

"I have no idea," he replies laughing and smiling. "Let's go for a drive, we need milk anyway."

I get up to grab the keys and toss them to him. He catches them and smiles. With a wink, I turn and head out to the truck with Nate on my heels.

Nate held the passenger side door open for me then closed it behind me. After he had started the truck and pulled out of the driveway, he reached over and held my hand the whole way to the store. The feeling was back.
