{24 HOURS LATER}

PJ's POV

"PJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJ!"
"What the he-"
"PJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJ!"
"What's-"
"PJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJPJ-"
"CHRIS. Calm down!"

Chris shut up immediately. I had been in such a deep sleep, only to be woken up by Chris tugging at my shoulders and screaming into my ear. I opened my eyes fully and sat up in my bed.
"What the bloody hell was all that for?"
"PJ! Guess what!"
"What happened?"

It doesn't seem to be bad news, I realise, as I see Chris' excited grin and wild eyes, but I worry nonetheless.

"PHIL'S AWAKE!"

What.

"What?!"

"PHIL'S AWAKE, PJ! HE'S NOT DEAD! WE STILL HAVE OUR BEST MATE!"

I needed a moment to take this all in. How was that possible? How was that even physically possible? They had been so sure that we had lost him. And now, everything had suddenly turned on it's head?

"Chris, what's the date today?" I ask.

"Uh..." He quickly whips outs his phone. "The twenty-first of November. Why?"

"So it's not April fools day?" I say, suspiciously.

"What? No! No, PJ, I'm not joking! The appartment phone rang and it was Sarah from the hospital and she told me everthing!"
"When did she call?"
"About ten minutes ago."
"So it's not a joke?"
"No!"

"Oh Chris!" I fling my arms around him and shout in happiness. When I pull away, the biggest grin I've seen for months appears on Chris' face. My brain could barely process how happy I was.

"Can we see him?"

"Well," Chris began, leaning back on his heels on my bed. "Sarah said the other nurses thought that he should be left alone for a little bit, but Sarah said she would be able to slip us in for a little while."

"Good old Sarah."
"Yeah."
"Is Dan there too?"
"No idea," shrugged Chris. "She didn't mention him at all."

I nod and sigh, stretching my arms. I shut my eyes, and just as I'm bring my arms up so rub my sleepy face, rough fabric hits my arms. "Wha-" I look in my lap to see a discarded pair of skinny jeans. Just as I look up, I see Chris chuck a shirt at me from my wardrobe.

"Chris! What are you doing?"
"What do you think? Come on, get dressed. We're going to the hospital, right?"
"Whoa, Chris. The nurses said-"
"Please, PJ? Sarah said it would be fine!" I give him a look and raise my eyebrows.
"Alright. Let me get dressed."
"Okay."

I stand up and put my hands on the edge of my shirt. I'm about to take my shirt off when I see Chris still stood there, watching me.

"Well? Are you gonna leave, or watch me get dressed, perv?"

"I wouldn't mind." Chris winked and laughed as I shoved him by his shoulders out the room.

* * *

"Calm down, Chris. You look like a little kid."

He had a reason to, and I was so happy too. After weeks of confusion qnd worry, Phil was going to be alright, and so was Dan, and we were all going to best mates again. Chris, sat next to me in the waiting room, was shivering with happiness in his seat.

"Chris! Stop! You're making me tired just-"

"BOYS!" A shrill voice cut through what I was saying as Chris looked up at the noise and his face lit up. I looked up too, to see Sarah rushing towards us. She looked so much better, almost as if she had gotten younger by ten years. Her cheeks were glowing as she hurried towards us in her pale blue nurse uniform.

"Sarah!" Chris and I both shouted, leaping out of our chairs. I pulled her into a hug, and Chris did too.

"Oh god, boys, it has been the most chaotic morning of my life." Sarah sighs as we pull away. "Marcus and I were rushing around, we knew Phil was on the brink of waking up."

"Well done, and thank you so much, Phil owes you his life and-"

"Yes, yes, yes," she brushed off our thanks with a smile and beckoned us down the corridor. "Come on, I'm supposing you came here to see him. But, we'll have to be sneaky. He's not supposed to have an visitors yet, so watch out no nurses catch you." Chris and I nodded excitedly as we started walking. The corridor was mainly empty, so we got to the room without trouble. Sarah put her hand on the door handle.

"Right, boys, he still may be a but confused and in shock. Don't be too noisy, alright?"

"Got it." said Chris. And Sarah opened the door.

"PHIL!"

Chris pushed his way past Sarah and I and dashed in. I followed him to see the back of Chris as he pulled Phil into a big hug. It was awkward positioning, because Phil was on a bed and Chris was standing, but they achieved it nonetheless. As soon as Chris moved out of the way, I saw Phil, smiling, for the first time in almost a month now. It was so strange. After seeing him day after day, asleep, his face chalky and lifeless. And now he was smiling like there was no tomorrow.

"Oh my god, Phil! It's so good to see you well again!" I say as I pull him in for a brief hug. It's great, he doesn't look as frail, he didn't feel frail at all. He was a little pale, and his hair was greasy and he's lost a lot of weight, but it felt so good to see him up and grinning after so long.

"It's so great to see you guys! It's such a relief to be up again, you have no idea!" His cheeks rise and his eyes crinkle up in his smile. His voice sounds entirely normal, not croaky like I thought it would.

"How do you feel?"
"Fine. A little dizzy."
"You will do." Sarah said from the doorway.

"Oh my God," Phil suddenly exclaims. "Sarah, thank you thank you thank you, so so, so much. You have saved my life and I have no idea how to-"

"Love, seeing you awake is all the thanks I need." Sarah said.

"Ah." Phil laughs. "Everything feels so great right now. How long was I out for?"

I look at Chris before replying. "Three weeks or so? A month?" Phil's eyes widened to the point that I thought they would pop out of their sockets.

"What?!! A month?! Oh my god, what about my audience, the viewers, they must be worried sick-"

"It's fine, Phil." Assured Chris. "We've got it all sorted. All that matters is that you are feeling okay again."

"Thank you." Phil beamed at us.The entire group look at him fondly, and we all reminisce in comfortable silence. Everything feels so emotional, I almost feel close to crying. This was incredible, we had all been sure that Phil was gone, and now he was at in front of us, right as rain. It was almost a miracle.

"Well, we'll see you later, Phil. We've got to let you rest for a bit." I say.

"Already?" Phil pouts slightly. "I was enjoying your company. Oh well. I guess I am pretty exhausted." He stretches his arms out, lifting up the crinkly hospital gown that looks a bit big on him.

"See you soon, Phil." Chris gives him a wave and leaves the room, I can almost feel Chris' cheery smile as I follow him out into the bleak corridor. Sarah goes out after us and shuts the door quietly behind her, grinning at us.

"Well, that was quite -" Sarah is abruptly cut off by the sound of shouting coming from the room that we all had just left.

"SARAH!" Phil cries. "SARAH! COME BACK!"
