It was the first time... The first time someone actually made eye contact with me. At first I looked behind me, for it was impossible he was looking at me. To my surprise, no one was standing behind me. I turned around and stared back at him, a blush slowly creeping up on my cheeks.

Big brother was arguing with Britain and Papa about something I didn't quite understand, I was too busy having a staring contest with with the white-haired country in front of me. He had short white hair and deep red eyes like I've never seen before. He had pale white skin and a dark blue uniform and he was...handsome.

I had never seen him at a world meeting before, and I have never missed one, even though the other countries wouldn't be able to see the difference... That mysterious country was intriguing me a lot, but not as much as he was making me uncomfortable with that strong gaze.

I myself couldn't keep my eyes off him. I squeezed Kumajiro tightly, trying to break eye contact with the unfamiliar country. I turned my head a little but my eyes stayed glued on his face. I turned back defeated and contemplated his face some more.

My train of thought was interrupted as Germany shouted at the three arguing nations. "When will you guys stop acting like children and actually take your responsibilities seriously?!"

The three being scolded had immediately stopped and sat back down terrified. Germany shook his head sighing and murmured, "Mein Gott, they are so tiring... I'm surprised you didn't take part of that quarrel, actually you barely said anything! Are you okay, Bruder?" He said to the red eyed country.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine... Don't worry..." he answered, slightly turning to Germany and breaking eye contact for barely a second.

I understood he was Germany's brother, but I had never been aware of the intimidating country having a brother. They didn't look much alike, or maybe they did... If you would just change the hair color and style as well as the eye color...

The meeting continued normally as I was awkwardly watching the guy across the table, not being capable of following anything Germany was saying.

As I exited the meeting room, relieved from being away from the intense gaze, a hand was laid on my shoulder. I jumped up surprised by the sudden contact and spinned to see who had done that. My heart beat slightly picked up the pace seeing the handsome country from before.

"Hey Bruder, I'll be heading home, are you coming?" Germany asked him.

"Nein, I'll catch up with you later, Tschüss!" Germany looked confused, clearly not seeing me but walked away before being attacked by his noisy ally.

"Hey, I'm the great and awesome Prussia, who are you? I've never seen you around before." The man introduced himself confidently, swinging an arm around me and making me walk with him.

"I-I'm C-Canada..." I said, my voice coming out as a whisper as I tensed myself under his arm.

"Canada huh, America's brother right?" he asked me.

"R-Right..." I stared at Kumajiro's head slightly blushing. It was the first time someone asked more about me, let alone, talked to me.

I finally mustered enough courage and asked him, "How... Why– why were you staring at me during the meeting..?"

He looked at me a little surprised by the sudden question but immediately smiled. "Well, 'cause you're cute! That's why!"

My cheeks started burning at the unprepared-for answer. "N-No, the real reason. No one ever notices me, how come you do? I'm just a ghost for the other countries." I whispered the last part looking to the other side.

Prussia took his arm away and shoved his hands in his pockets. "That was the real reason I was staring at you, you know... And of course I'd notice such a pretty face. But, I guess, you could say I'm sort of a ghost too... Maybe, maybe that's why..." he answered staring at the ceiling nostalgically. I looked at him my cheeks still red and wondered why he would be a ghost as well.

He seemed to be energetic and was noticed by others, why-, how could he be a ghost? I had pondered a while on that fact then noticed I had never heard of a country named Prussia on the maps or anywhere else, maybe in old history books but...

That's when it hit me. "You mean, you...you're not an actual country...anymore..?" I defied, raising my head. He looked at me surprised but then replaced his bewilderedness with a soft gaze then started laughing.

"Wow, you're pretty and smart! I like you! And yes...I'm not a country with border lines or defined people, my little brother takes care of that now!" I held Kumajiro higher trying to ignore his first comment.

"Hey listen, I have to go but I'd really like it if we could meet up again some time, okay? Here," he said giving me a crumbled piece of paper. "See ya later, Birdie!" he said waving and walking away.

I blushed at the nickname and was slightly irritated by his arrogant confidence, but soon felt my heart flutter happily. I opened the little note and read it.

My heart exploded, rushing blood to my face making it the same color of the maple leaf of my flag. I crumbled it once again and threw it behind me walking away, muttering angrily and embarrassed.

"What was that?" Kumajiro spoke in his high-pitched voice for the first time.

"N-Nothing!" I shouted walking faster, too embarrassed to tell him what was written.
