In a small forest, surrounded by many pine trees covered in snow, lays a private lake, its water frozen solid. A young figure skater sneaks past the fence with his skates on his back. He runs along the border on the solid water until he reaches a suitable place to sit and slip on his white skates, their color matching the glistening snow. Taking a deep breath, the warm air appearing white, he steps on the ice.

He pushes his feet behind him, allowing him to glide across the ice. It was dark and he could barely see, but the faint moonlight made the ice and snow twinkle. His eyesight slowly adjusts and he manages to make out most of his surroundings. The blond positions himself in the center of the lake, feet placed in an "L" and hands stretched behind him.

A melody plays in his head and he begins to move. His right hand rises, guiding his body to the right. He slides along the ice, his left leg in the air. Staying on one leg, his arms lower to touch his toes, raising the left leg high in the air. The young adult trails his fingers against the ice, his left leg descending and right knee folding. He lets his left foot glide behind him.

Suddenly, he hits the ice, propelling himself in the air, twirling with his arms pressed tightly against his chest and legs crossed over each other. He lands on his left foot, immediately stretching his arms out. He skates in circles backwards, feet crossing over each other all the while his arms are extended on both sides of his body. The figure skater brings them against his chest then raises his right hand over his head and back to his left shoulder. His left hand clasps over the right side of his hips and he lowers his left knee to skim over the smooth surface.

His arms unwrap and reach for the sky, arching his back in the process. He slowly stands, still sliding along the ice, and kicks a leg to the side. The movement creates speed allowing the blond to spin around himself, his back still curved. He crouches over his right knee with his left foot hovering over the ice as he continues to twirl. Setting his foot down, his rotations cease and he drifts to the side, his hands gracefully moving.

The thin blond spreads his legs then leaps into the air, perfectly performing a triple axel and immediately following up with a quadruple toe loop. He lands both flawlessly, hands raised over his head, adding to the difficulty. Skating a few meters more he begins another quadruple toe and triple toe loop. He lands them all with ease and continues to glide on one skate.

He returns to the center of the lake and begins spinning rapidly, throwing his leg back making him jump. He lands and pursues rotating. His arms link over his head. He bends over letting his fingers touch the ice. His twirls slowly come to an end and he stands up. His right hand rises into the air, his left one sets on his right shoulder. He lifts his chin to the right and crosses his left foot behind his right.

The young figure skater breathes heavily, sweat rolling down his pale face. He closes his eyes and sighs as he returns to a natural position.

Clapping sparks into the air making the skater flinch. He spins around to see a tall man skating towards him. He's wearing a red hoodie and black jogging pants, large black skates strapped to his feet. He smiles to the figure skater with his hands on his hips.

"This is a private property you know?" announces the freckled blond. The slender skater nods keeping a calm expression. "Well I should technically report you to my old man," pursues the stranger, his voice trailing off. "But I loved your performance and decided not to."

The figure skater lifts his head in surprise. His eyes remain wide open as the man continues his speech.

"I understand the need to go skate late at night where no one can bother you. I'm Matthias, I play ice hockey and love to come out here in the dark to practice my shoots. What's your name? I assume you came here to practice your short program or whatever those are called."
