The house was quiet. Darkness filled each room as I tiptoed through the hall trying to sneak in the kitchen. I held my breath the whole way and slowly placed one foot after the other on the wooden floor. Then I saw it. The kitchen door. I scurried over, closed it behind me and turned the lights on.

I scanned my surroundings and made my way to the fridge. I opened it and started moving every condiment inside. "Where are they? Where are they?" I whispered to myself as I searched vigorously. I ran to the other side of the kitchen and frantically opened every cupboard.

"Where are you? My dear, precious, sweets..."

I opened every box in the cupboard, spilled Sealand's cereal on the floor, lifted every jar, pushed away anything that could prevent me from seeing my prized possessions. I dashed to the other row of cupboards and did the same thing. Still nothing.

I stood in the center of the kitchen and pondered with my hand on my chin. I turned around staying in the same spot and observed carefully each centimeter of the kitchen. Then my eyes lit up. I could see a blue tin box on top of the refrigerator. I clapped in glee and skipped over to the tall white machine. I stood on the tip of my toes but still couldn't reach the top.

I twirled around and violently grabbed a chair. I balanced myself on the furniture and grabbed the box. I carefully opened the lid and peeked inside.

"MY KORVAPUUSTI!" I cried out in joy. I sat on the chair and eyed my precious sweets lovingly. I gently held one up and smiled dearly. Right when I was about to take a bite into my Finnish cinnamon bun, a dark shadow loomed over me. I shrunk in my seat. I swallowed my saliva harshly and slowly turned around, lowering the bun back into the box.

"Good evening my dear Sweden. What might you be doing up at such an early hour?" I asked with the sweetest smile I could manage. His face didn't falter and he kept a stern expression with a piercing gaze. He held his hand out while staring into my eyes.

"Box. Now."

I clasped the lid back on the box and hugged it against my chest, raising my legs to embrace it properly. "No! I refuse! You can't stop me! I will not hesitate to exterminate you if you touch my precious sweets!"

"We talked about this. You are not allowed to eat those anymore. You ate more than sixty of them in the last two days. Because of you, all bakeries selling them have no more in stock and no more ingredients either, you ordering so many," voiced the imposing country.

I lowered my head and scowled. There was no way I was letting him forbid me to eat the addicting patisseries. Finnish cinnamon buns are the best of the world, no way I wouldn't fall in love with the sugary sweets. I then decided to use my secret weapon against Sweden since he wasn't complying.

I looked up with big puppy dog eyes and a pouty face. "Not even for your wife?" I whimpered, hands under my chin pleadingly. His eye twitched behind his glasses. He let out a long, desolated sigh. "One. Just, one."

I pumped my fists up in the air victoriously. "Yes! Works every time!" I cheered opening the tin container once more. Sweden shook his head defeated and swept the box away from me once I took one cinnamon bun. He closed the lid and started walking out the kitchen. "Please clean up the mess you've made once your done."

"Mmhmm," I hummed while chewing on the delicacy. I stood up and grabbed Sweden by the neck. "Mmh, I wuv you Swedeh," I exclaimed my mouth full. He hummed a response and ruffled my hair. I clung onto him tighter and wrapped both my legs around his own. "I weally... I really do," I swallowed and rubbed my cheek against his chest. "You are the best husband anyone could ask for, you-"

"You're not getting a second one," cut off the tall nation. I pouted and dug my face into his chest. "But I neeeeed moooooreee...." I moaned against his shirt. "You've already had too much for your health." I shook my head against the soft fabric. "But they're so goooood," I groaned, tightening my embrace. He dragged his foot and tried to advance.

"I'm going to sleep. Clean up and join me in bed when you're done," he said while slowly marching forward. "No, I don't want to sleep, I want to eat," I whined, progressively sliding down Sweden's firm body. I landed on the ground with a "thump". He wiggled his leg trying to escape my grip. He managed to stick a leg up then the other, leaving me sprawled on the ground, gripping his ankle.

"No, please! Just, just one more! Sweden!" I wailed being dragged on the cold tiles. He didn't reply and simply pursued walking. "Goodnight, wife," mumbled the tired country. He shook his foot making me loose my grip on it. I watched in dread as he left the kitchen and entered the living room with my Korvapuusti in his hands.

I pushed myself on my feet and slowly headed to the mess I made to clean it up. While picking up the fallen cereal, I started murmuring to myself. "That was unfair, very unfair. I will find them again... And you... You will pay! We'll see how much you like it when someone interferes with you and your beloved furniture... Yes, yes! I shall assemble every furniture in the house, the wrong way."
