Allen closed the door behind him and dropped his school bag on the floor. He untied his shoes and put them away in the shoe closet. As he walked to the living room, he heard music from the kitchen. He peeked inside from the corridor and saw Oliver singing while twirling in the kitchen.
"One, two, melatonin is coming for you."
The strawberry blond opened a cupboard and pulled out a vial from the shelves.
"Three, four, baby, won't you lock the door?"
He closed the cabinet and sprinkled the contains in an empty bottle.
"Five, six, I'm done with this...
Seven, eight, it's getting late, so close your eyes, sleep for days."
He smirked and filled the bottle with a green liquid. He eyed his mixture slyly while stirring a spoon inside it.
"Hush, little baby, drink your spoiled milk."
Oliver poured a white liquid from a red jug with big yellow stickers covering it.
"I'm fudging crazy, need my prescription filled."
The blue-eyed man put the liquid brew in another, fancier, bottle.
"Do you like my cookies? They're made just for you."
He swiftly shoved oven gloves on his hands and took out a tray with freshly baked biscuits from the furnace.
"A little bit of sugar, but lots of poison, too."
He sugarcoated the sweets with thin, white dust while grinning deviously. He carefully picked each cookie and placed them in a plastic bag then tied it with a pink and blue ribbon.
"Ashes, ashes, time to go down
Ooh, honey do you want me now?
Can't take it anymore, need to put you to bed."
Allen watched as the man pulled out a black bag and placed it on the kitchen table. He deposited the sweets and beverage in it.
"Sing you a lullaby where you die at the end."
Oliver took out a dagger from a drawer and traced his finger on the blade. He stuffed it in the sack as he sang the last verse of the chorus. He smiled proudly and closed the zipper with the song playing in the background. He untied his apron and slipped the bag on his shoulder.
The strawberry blond walked past Allen who gawked still pressed against the wall. Oliver smiled as he ran his fingers through Allen's dark locks. "I will be going out for a moment, I have something to take care of," smiled Oliver. He walked past the young boy and headed to the entrance. "I left you some biscuits on the counter and a fresh drink in the refrigerator, do take them. Now you be a good little cupcake, big brother will be back very soon."
The door closed and Allen was left alone in the house. He stared at the door in fear. He ran to the kitchen and saw the cookies nicely set on a plate. His hands shook as he picked one up. The brunette observed the treat closely then put it back down. He sighed in relief. Oliver could become pretty scary when angry, and Allen was never sure if one day he might be the one to receive a special gift.
The child took the plate and hurried to his room, grabbing his school bag on the way. He locked himself in and sat on his bed, nibbling on the sweets. He pulled out his books starting his homework. Under no circumstances he wanted to anger Oliver today.
