Russia strolled through the busy streets of Shanghai while picking up the fresh products for his dinner. He had intended to surprise China at his place with a well-cooked meal especially made for him. The tall country had began to feel lonesome and wanted to spend time with his neighboring comrade. And so he he was determined to bond with the small Asian country.

The market was filled with different kinds of products and many people shoving each other to get through the streets. Russia passively passed from shop to shop and bought his groceries. Once he was done, he started walking back on his tracks to head to China's house. The tall country managed to loose track of where he was and strayed from his initial path.

Each street became more and more narrow with much few people passing by. Cats and smoking men lurked in the shadows but Russia mindlessly strolled through the city. Slowly, two then three men started following the oblivious country. A fourth appeared in front of the tall blond blocking his way. Russia smiled and tried to push passed him only to be shoved backwards.

The four men circled Russia threateningly, pulling out their knives. The nation stood calmly without movement. He could beat them up but they were four and he was alone. He was aware these kind of Chinese gangs were also known for being agile and rapid.

A masked man motioned for Russia to hand them whatever he had valuable. The other three slowly closed in on him. The country thought fast and threw his basket in the air. All four watched in surprise the soaring groceries and failed to notice Russia lunging towards the masked man, fist ready to launch. The gangster fell backwards and hit the wall, slouching down the facade.

The three men immediately attacked Russia simultaneously, throwing punches and kicks at the tall man's vulnerable areas. He defended himself pretty well, avoiding the blades from cutting him. In the heat of the battle, the four quarreling men didn't notice another person joining in and kicking one of the gangsters. The man was propelled to the ground, knocked out cold.

With swift movements, the two other assaulters were on the cement as well. Russia leaned against the wall and raised his head to see his savior. He smiled upon seeing who it was.

  "Hello China, how are you?"

The short brunet rushed to his friend's side and wrapped his arm around his shoulders. "You dimwit! What in the world are you doing in this part of town? Why are you even in Shanghai in the first place?" cried out the nation angrily, much concern hidden behind his irritation. Russia chuckled and easily stood back up. He waddled to his groceries and picked them up dejected.

Most of his vegetables and fruits were squashed and the bags of rice ripped. China stood over his shoulder in confusion. "I was going to surprise you with a nice meal... I guess I'll have to wait for another day," answered the blond observing the state if his purchases. China whispered a quiet "oh" and scratched the back of his head. He clung on to Russia's coat and led the nation out of the alley.

"That's okay, I'll just make dinner myself, you can help if you want to," proposed the brunet as they arrived to a busy street. Russia beamed and nodded. He held onto China pulling him against his side.

"Thank you China, for helping me back there," smiled the blond gratefully. China lifted his nose to the sky and shrugged.

"No problem. I couldn't just leave someone being beat up without trying to help," he replied a blush creeping across his cheeks. Russia agreed silently and kept his hand on his friend's shoulder.

"You fight really well. Was that one of your martial arts?"

"Yes, I go practice every week in a dojo. It is important for me to maintain my agility and alertness, so I meditate every week as well," answered China dodging a wheelbarrow and bumping into Russia. The small nation looked up nervously and jumped backwards bowing apologetically. Russia smiled softly and pulled China close to his body.

"Stay close like that you won't get hit," said the tall blond. China nodded, his face completely flushed. "Do you mind taking me along one day?" asked Russia. The brunet looked up in shock and saw his friend's eyes proving his request was genuine.

  "Um, sure, why not..."

Russia grinned and hugged China tightly. People began staring at the odd duo which embarrassed the native more.

"Thank you China, you're the best friend I've ever had!" exclaimed Russia happily. The brunet blushed and slowly hugged back, forcing himself to avoid the strong gazes. They let go and pursued their way home for a nice dinner together.
