Arthur's POV

"Chaos is an angel who fell in love with a demon."

If only I had kept in mind that phrase, my world wouldn't have turned into a catastrophe. If only I hadn't been so blind and naive. "If only" have been the words circling my mind ever since my mistake.

The light shone bright and warm down on our precious home. Angels fluttered their wings soaring through Heaven each with a task at hand. I decided to walk to the storage of souls, enjoying the sight of the peaceful gardens. I carefully held a new soul in my arms. Many of us angels have the duty to escort the souls of humans up to Heaven after their deaths, and then store them safely until we can allow them to freely walk among the angels.

I entered the pearly white building and descended to the human's family tree, depositing its soul with the others. I watched admiringly as the soft glow joined the cluster. I closed the drawer with a satisfied sigh. My job wasn't over, I already had a new soul to guide. Just as I turned around I bumped into a tall and dark figure.

The being had eyes piercing and cold as ice, hair dark as coal, frightening horns protruding from its head, and a sickening smile. I gasped and began to yell.

  "A dem-"

I was cut off by being shoved against the closed drawers. My head banged against the metal and I felt dizzy. The demon's hand cupped my mouth and he leaned in close.

"Hush, my pretty angel," he whispered sweetly. "I won't hurt you."

His long black nails trailed my bare throat. He licked his lips and grinned. "I'm simply here to take back something that is mine," he declared playing with a strand of my hair. "Will you behave?"

I maintained a harsh glare and didn't move. He chuckled, frowning cockily. His fingers lifted one after the other and released my mouth. I wiped my lips in disgust and whipped my sword out, pressing it at his throat.

"How did you enter this holy ground, vile beast?" I snarled, drawing blood from his skin. He kept his hands raised and smiled, almost amused by the pain. I scowled harshly, my patience running out.

  "Magicians don't reveal their tricks."

I cut in deeper earning a stiff groan from the demon. He panted with a weary smile.

"Alright, alright. I'll tell you. Just like you... I need to collect the souls of humans, that means following it any... and everywhere it takes to bring it back to Hell," he explained with short pauses for air. "And you, my lovely pain in the ass, has taken what belongs to me." His long finger pointed to the drawer where I had placed the newfound soul in.

I shook my head and leaned in closer. "That's impossible! This soul belongs in Heaven, it is written in the Book. Besides, mission or not, Heaven is locked up from demons like you!"

He laughed hysterically letting my blade sink in deeper. His breaths fled his lungs as he flung his head backwards. I watched confused and stood back. Catching me off guard, the demon hit my sword away and propelled me against a wall. He swooped in and held me by the neck, smiling evilly.

"My haloed friend, we have other ways in. By the way, you'd probably want to check those locks of yours," murmured the demon in a husky tone. He tightened his grip causing me to gasp and claw at the wall behind me. As he was about to hit me, a fellow angel walked in. She reacted quickly and launched her blade to the unholy creature stabbing him in the back. He wailed in pain and turned around, pulling the sword out of his flesh.
