Martina's POV
"It will be nice to be on our own." Brian murmured in my ear as we sat on the porch watching Matt pack his and Lana's belongings in the car.
"Mmmmmm." I said smiling. "It will be."
Matt and Lana had stayed a few days but had decided it was time to head back home. I was excited to have a some time with Brian but disappointed because we'd been having so much fun. What ever had been going on between Matt and Lana had been sorted and they were back to being what they were. Inseparable.
"Hey doofus." Lana said, suddenly bursting out the door. "You forgot this." And I watched as she threw a shoe right at Matt's head. He reached up and caught it, laughing and once again I was glad that whatever problem they'd been having they'd managed to sort out.
"Well are you ready?" He asked her, slamming the trunk.
"I guess it's time to get back to reality." Lana sighed.
I stood up and hugged her. "Thank you for coming." I told her, thankful for what her and Matt had done.
"I'd do it again Marty." She smiled.
I looked at her smiling face and I was disappointed that I could still see that sadness in her eye's and once again I wished she would talk to me, she was there for me and I wanted to be there for her.
"Fuck." Matt said walking over. "It's not like you'll never see each other again." And I laughed as he picked Lana up and threw her over his shoulder. "Now get in the car."
He placed her on her feet and they both climbed in, waving as they drove away and I stood there waving until they were out of sight.
"Peace and quiet." Brian said, turning to me. "Drink?" He asked.
"Yes." I sighed, kissing him softly. "A wine would be nice."
"Wine it is." He said, turning and heading inside.
I made myself comfortable on the chairs and looked around, enjoying the quiet but already missing Matt and Lana's constant chatter and fooling around.
"Here you go." Brian said, coming back out and placing a glass in front of me. I was pleased to see he'd brought the whole bottle out on ice and some cheese and crackers. He could read my mind, I swear.
"You spoil me." I told him, taking a sip.
"I like spoiling you Marty." He murmured and I smiled at him. I liked him spoiling me. "Now." He said smiling. "Let's talk, really talk, properly."
I nodded. "Okay."
"What happened baby, where did you get the idea that I was breaking up with you?" He asked and I looked down at my hands, he looked a little sad.
"I don't know Bri." I said softly, reaching over and grabbing his hand. "You seemed different, distant."
"And I told you why." He murmured. "I was trying to gauge how you felt about marriage."
"You want to marry me?" I laughed and he nodded.
"Yeah Marty, I do want to marry you, I really do." And he squeezed me hand. "So how do you feel about it babe, would you marry me?"
"Of course I would Brian, but my point was that we don't need to get married. I know you love me, I don't need you to prove it."
"Ugh Marty, I do love you, but, I guess I'm old fashioned." He told me. "I want to get married, grow old together, marry my love."
I leant over, kissing him softly, I wanted nothing more than to grow old with him.
"Fucking Matt and Courtney." He grumbled. "Stealing my thunder."
"It's okay." I said. "We can wait."
"I don't want to wait Marty, I have the damn ring." He said. "And I had it before damn Matt decided to marry that fucking anal bitch."
I was taken aback by both of his sentences, the fact he had a ring and the fact that he obviously disliked Courtney, I had no idea, yet I wasn't shocked, I didn't like her much either.
"But I'm not talking about that Marty." He said, obviously sensing what I was thinking. "I'm talking about us. I bought a ring you know?"
"You bought a ring?" Now I was shocked.
"Yeah, hang on, I'll show you." And I watched him get up and head inside. I was a little surprised and a little excited.
I sat there, sipping my wine, waiting, mentally asking myself why I was so excited. I'd never been interested in marriage, but the prospect of Brian wanting to marry me pleased me, a lot.
He came back out, clutching a little jewellery box and he sat down, facing me.
"See." He said, placing it in front of me and opening it.
I looked down at it and my heart went crazy. It was the biggest, most beautiful diamond ring I'd ever seen.
"My god." I cried. "It's beautiful Brian."
He smiled at me, reaching over and squeezing my hand. "So how about it Marty, do you want to marry me?"
I didn't mean to but I burst into tears. God this was the best moment of my life. "Of course I'll marry you." I wanted nothing more.
Brian stood up and walked to me. He grabbed my hands and pulled me to me feet. "I love you Martina and I want you to be my wife."
"I want to be your wife." I whispered as he kissed me.
And surprisingly I did. I wanted to marry Brian. I wanted that more than anything.
