Lana's POV
Fuck, I thought putting my curling iron down, my hair looks like shit, it didn't matter what I tried to do with it, it just wouldn't co-operate. I had started off straightening it but it went a little frizzy looking, so now I'd pulled out the curling iron and the curls just looked stupid. I dug around in my drawer, looking for some hair pins and finally, I found some.
"Lana." Matt called from the bedroom. "What are you doing?"
"My hair." I told him, starting to pin it up.
He walked in and frowned at me. "Lana, why are you doing your hair?"
I put the last pin in and looked. It still looked terrible. "Maybe I should wet it and start again." I said to him.
"Lana." He said walking behind me. "It looks fine."
"It does?" I still wasn't sure.
"It does. Now." He said kissing my bare shoulder. "Get dressed or we'll be late."
I looked at myself one more time before heading into the bedroom and walking to the wardrobe, opening it and looking in. God, what do I wear? I had no idea, everything I owned just seemed so blah. I pulled out one of the dresses Marty had insisted I buy on one of our shopping trips, I hadn't worn it yet and it seemed nice. I guessed I'd put it on and see how it looked.
"Lana." Matt asked, walking into the bedroom. "Why are you wearing that?"
I looked at him. "So I look nice Matt."
"Wear your fucking shorts or jeans or whatever." He said smiling, walking over to me.
"I want to look nice." I said, turning back to my wardrobe, this dress really wasn't right.
"Lana." He said softly and I turned around and looked at him. "You've had dinner with my parents a million times before, you don't have to get dressed up."
I groaned. "Matt this is different." And it was, this was so different. "I have to impress your parents and oh god, what if they don't like me?"
He smiled at me. "Lana, my parents already like you."
"No Matt." I said turning back around to stare in my cupboard. "They like me as your friend, not as your girlfriend." I pulled out another dress. "Fuck, I have nothing to wear, not a thing."
"Lana." He said placing his hands on my shoulders and turning me around to face him. "Wear anything, it doesn't matter."
"It matters to me." I said softly. "Your parents liked Courtney Matt, what if they hate me?"
He shook his head and pulled me into his arms. "Lana, my parents won't hate you." And that was easy for him to say.
I opened my mouth to reply but he kissed me, cutting my words off. I closed my eye's, wrapping my arms around his neck, I could feel his hands on my hips and I leant into him. I'd rather stay here all night, doing this, than go to have dinner with his parents.
"Lana." He murmured against my lips. "Put some clothes on."
"Don't you like what I'm wearing?" I whispered, kissing him again, pressing myself against him.
"God yes, yes I do." He said, pulling away slightly. "But if you don't cover up we're going to be late."
"Fine." I said turning around and grabbing the first dress I had. "This will do."
"Yeah it will." He said softly, squeezing my hip.
I pulled it on and I still wasn't sure about it, I still didn't think I looked good enough. I knew that Matt's parents liked Courtney and I really wasn't sure how they'd react to me being with Matt, maybe I just wasn't good enough. Sure they liked me as his friend, but girlfriend, that's a whole other story.
"Babe, you look fine." Matt said softly and I just nodded, grabbing my shoes.
I didn't look fine, but it would have to do.
"You ready?" He asked me and I nodded, grabbing my purse off the bed. "Lana." Matt said, stopping as we headed to the door. "You look beautiful." I didn't. "I know you're worried, but don't be Lana, it will be fine okay?" And he kissed me again. I kind of wished he wouldn't, because all it made me want to do was curl up on the couch with him all night. "So let's go."
He held my hand as we walked to the car and he held my hand on the drive over and as we pulled up out the front of his parents place he leant over and kissed me. "I love you Lana." He said softly and I smiled, he was so sweet.
"I love you." I whispered and he kissed me again before we got out of the car.
As we walked up the path Matt went to take my hand but I pulled it back, shaking my head. "Not yet." I said quietly. "I just want to see what your parents say."
"Okay." He said, knocking on the door. "But I'd prefer to hold your hand."
I smiled at him and shook my head, I'd prefer him to hold my hand.
"Hi." Matt's Mom exclaimed, opening the door and she looked at me with wide eye's. "Lana, it's so good to see you, I'm really glad you came."
She hugged me and then hugged Matt. "Come inside."
We followed her into the living room where Matt's dad was.
"Lana's here." She announced. "Not his new girlfriend." And then they both laughed.
I nodded my head, glancing around. I got it, they just couldn't see me being their son's girlfriend, it was understandable, I mean look at me.
"No Mom." Matt said but I elbowed him in the ribs, willing him to shut up. He looked at me and frowned.
"No." I mouthed to him and he rolled his eye's.
"Drink?" Matt's dad asked standing up.
"Please." I said and him and Matt left the room.
"So Lana." Kim said, sitting down. "You look lovely."
"Thanks." I said dropping into a seat and looking around.
"So have you recovered from all the fuss of the wedding?" She asked.
"Yeah I guess." I said. "It certainly was stressful." I added. I didn't add that the stressful part was watching the man I loved almost get married.
"Yeah I agree." She said smiling. "Poor Matt, he must have been terribly stressed, I just wished he told us, we could have helped." I nodded. "But hopefully he'll settle down, the nerves will go and they can reschedule the wedding."
"Mmm yeah maybe." I said quickly. Obviously his Mom was disregarding the whole new girlfriend thing and I was glad Matt hadn't said anything about us yet, I just got the feeling it wouldn't go down so well.
"Yes, him and Courtney will sort it out."
"Who will sort what out?" Matt asked, walking back into the room, holding a beer.
"You and Courtney." His Mom told him and Matt glanced at me.
I looked down at my hands. Maybe this relationship was a bad idea. Unless Matt and I spent our whole relationship hiding at my place, I just couldn't see people accepting it, especially his parents.
