Martina's POV
"Happy wedding day." Lana yelled, bursting through the door, carrying a bottle of champagne.
I looked at her. "Who are you?" I said sarcastically.
She looked at me and raised her eyebrows. "Marty, god."
Well what did she expect. Brian and I hadn't laid eye's on her and Matt for two day's, except briefly as they were fleeting through the hotel lobby, off to do something mysterious.
"I've barely seen you." I snapped. I was kind of bothered, I mean I thought we'd all spend time together on this vacation. "Doesn't matter. Bring that." I said pointing to the bottle of champagne. "We have to go downstairs and get our hair done."
She grabbed the bottle, following me out and now I felt bad because she looked disappointed, but what did she expect.
We went downstairs and got settled at the hairdressers. We were sitting side by side as the girls started on our hair, both of us sipping a champagne. I watched Lana in the mirror and I hated to admit it, but she looked good, really good, she looked happy.
"So what have you two been doing anyway?" I asked her. Now I was feeling bad for my earlier outburst.
"Just swimming and stuff Marty." She said softly. "I'm sorry for not hanging out with you guys, okay?"
I nodded. "It's fine, don't worry about it." I mean how could I be mad at her when she looked so fucking happy.
"So anyway." She said smiling shyly. "Matt asked me to move in with him."
Oh I could see that happening a mile away. "I knew it." I told her smiling. "I knew he would. So, when are you getting married?"
She started coughing, and I realised she was choking on champagne, thank god the hairdresser patted her on the back. "God Marty." She choked. "We haven't been together that long."
Only they had. They'd been together since they were seven years old. They didn't have to get to know each other, they already knew everything about each other, they'd gone through the hardest part of a relationship when they were kids, the getting to know you stage.
"I know, but still." I said smiling. "You'll get married." And I really hoped they would. They belonged together, they really did.
"No Marty stop." She said. "Today you're getting married and I'm not discussing me getting married, well." And she laughed. "Because I'm not."
Yeah yeah, she could say whatever she wanted, but I could see it happening.
"So." She said smiling. "How do you feel? You're marrying Brian."
"Finally." I added. "It feels good Lana, as much as I always said I didn't want to get married, I like the idea and I can't wait."
"I bet it's exciting." She said softly, looking at her nails.
Yep, she could say what she wanted, but yeah, Lana liked the idea of marriage.
"It is." I said smiling. "It's very exciting."
I was excited and I couldn't wait for tonight, when I would officially be Mrs Haner, the name had a beautiful ring to it and it was something I was looking forward to. Mrs Martina Haner.
We sat there chatting while our hair and make up were finished, I didn't bring up marriage again because I knew Lana would get pissed off, but I noticed whenever we spoke of Matt a look of pure happiness came over her. That made me happy, I was happy to see Lana so happy.
I'd arranged for a big lunch to be delivered to the room for us and as we sat down, Lana looked at me.
"Did Courtney go home Marty?" She asked, frowning.
Boy did she go home. "Her father arrived, she didn't go quietly." I could still hear her sobbing as her father dragged her into a taxi. I really hoped she got the help she needed, I really did.
Lana nodded and I could tell she was bothered by something.
"Okay." I said, putting my drink down. "What's wrong?"
She shook her head. "It's silly."
"No." I said grabbing her hand and squeezing it. "Tell me Lana, I'm sure it's not silly."
"Okay." She said taking a deep breath. "I just kind of feel bad."
I frowned at her. "What for?"
"Well." She mumbled, looking down. "I feel bad for Courtney." I opened my mouth to protest but she cut me off. "I ruined her life Marty."
Was she fucking serious? "Lana, no, no you didn't ruin her life." I assured her. "She ruined her life, not you, she did that all by herself."
"If I hadn't have been around, they'd be married." She whispered and oh god, she was going to cry.
"Yeah Lana." I said softly, getting up and hugging her. "They would be married, but what would have happened to you?" I asked. "It would have destroyed you instead."
She quickly grabbed a tissue and dabbed at her eye's before her tears could ruin her make up. "I guess that would be easier to live with."
I shook my head. "No Lana, Matt loves you, he realised and he didn't marry her." I told her. "You did nothing but be you. How could Matt not fall in love with you Lana, you're fucking perfect."
"I'm not perfect Marty." She said softly.
"For Matt you are." I murmured. "You're perfect for Matt, so please do not blame yourself for what's happening to Courtney, life happened, you and Matt fell in love, now please, be happy Lana, for me."
"I am happy Marty." She said smiling. "Really happy, but I just guess I'm waiting for something to go wrong, I mean everything seems to be going great, surely something will ruin it."
I groaned. "Why are you thinking like this Lana?" I cried. "You deserve it, enjoy it."
She shook her head and stood up. "I guess we should get ready." And I knew she was trying to dismiss the subject.
"Lana." I said following her into the bedroom. "Do you love Matt?"
"Yes." She said, and she did, it was written all over her face.
"And Matt loves you?"
She smiled and nodded. "He does." And damn she started crying.
I hugged her, now it was my turn to dab at her face with tissues.
"He does love me Marty and fuck." She sobbed. "I feel so happy, and I forgot what it felt like to be happy, truly happy."
"Matt makes you happy." I whispered hugging her.
"He always has."
I smiled, god if those two didn't end up getting married I would personally abduct them both and make them do it at gun point. Clearly they belonged together. Those two, Matt and Lana, they were made solely for each other and it was something truly beautiful to see.
