//February 21, 2030. Local Prison, 3:01 PM//

I had never been inside the prison before since I was determined to be a good girl and not get on anybody's naughty list, so I was shocked at how boring it was. It was like walking into an old basement: concrete here, concrete there, concrete everywhere. I looked around and gulped. There were so many bad people lurking around here that I didn't want to deal with...! They looked really scary!

"Stop being such a fraidy cat."

Celosia's hard as nails voice cut me out of my thoughts. For a second, I thought she was a prisoner and ended up attaching myself to Connor's arm out of fear. He stared down at me quizzically, not understanding why Celosia scared me so much.

"S-sorry..." I apologized to him, pulling away with a frown.

"Here we are," Vessy finally declared, stopping in front of a cell. He pointed to it, and it looked...

...Just like all the others, just lacking in the inhabitant department.

A bed that looked way too hard was shoved up against the wall with metal lining it. There was a table next to it, though nothing was on top of it. A few black feathers dotted the ground here and there, making me wonder what the heck that was all about.

"That's right," Vessy continued, reaching through the bars and picking up a feather. "All of the inmates here have animals to help them better become a part of society after their crimes."

"These feathers look like they belong to some sort of raven," Celosia observed, snatching the feather from him to stare at every little piece of it in curiosity.

"Yeah... That much sounds accurate enough," Connor agreed, peering over her shoulder at the feather. "There are tons of feathers around my shop, so I know them pretty well."

"Your shop?" I echoed in confusion. "What shop are you talking about?"

Vessy and Celosia looked a little bit curious as well, so Connor looked down and grumbled a few words. "It's a con shop..." he murmured, pouting gently at being forced to give out such information.

"We won't tell. Promise," I told him with a wink and a giggle. Connor shot me a small smile. I think I'm making friends pretty well today, if I do say so myself!

"That isn't important right now," Celosia reminded us, pointing back to the cell. "We need to work on figuring out how in the world the inmate escaped."

"Celosia's right. Let's get to work," Vessy agreed.

The cell door was unlocked, so I was able to push it open with ease. Inside, the cell was even darker than the dim hallway outside, making me gulp. I wasn't the biggest fan of shady places like this one...

"Guys," Connor announced. He was standing over the bed, which was shoved near the corner, though not exactly against the wall. "The bed. Come look at it."

We all walked over to the bed and looked at it. I blinked. "It's a bed. That's what we're supposed to notice, right?" I asked him, frowning. "If there's something else, I don't really get it."

"The bed isn't shoved all the way into the corner," Vessy observed. "All of the other beds are in the corner perfectly, but not this one."

"That's a stupid thing to notice," Celosia scoffed. "Some bed not being in a corner? Pathetic observation there, Holmes."

"I think that this fact has more meaning than we think about," Connor declared. "Look at the floor now."

I gasped once I got down to the floor's level. "There are skid marks on the floor! Like when a tire turns really sharply on the road!" I exclaimed.

"Yes. This means that..." Connor began to grunt as he attempted to yank the bed away from the wall. Vessy caught on and joined in on the heaving. I tried to help, but I don't think I did all that much. Celosia rolled her eyes before joining in on the lifting.

It took about a minute, but we eventually got the bed away from the wall. I gasped upon looking down and seeing a hole.

"There's a hole here!" I exclaimed.

"Thank you, Captain Obvious," Celosia told me sarcastically. "There's a hole here. What else is new? That the sky is blue and the grass is green?"

"I think that this is how our mystery criminal escaped," Vessy deduced. "Somehow, he made this hole and crawled through it to get out without arising suspicion from other prisoners or the guards."

"But who was this weird guy again?" I asked.

"We don't know, remember?" Celosia told me with an impatient tap of her foot. "But I'm sure that those other Interpol nerds will figure something out about who the heck the escapee is and just how bad they are."

While Celosia, Vessy, and Connor continued talking to each other, I looked at the hole. I jumped in, which made all of the others gasp. "Milan!" Connor cried.

"Get out of there! We don't know what could be down there!" Vessy yelled down at me.

I shrugged it off and began crawling through the tunnels. I didn't care how dangerous it was if it had something to do with those dirty Kuranin people! I had to catch them for Mario's sake and for all of the other people they killed!

I followed the trail of black feathers through the tunnel. I wasn't all that sure where I was going, but I got the deep feeling that this place held some sort of importance, you know?

I wasn't sure how long it was before I hit a dead end. I knew that there was no way I was lost, since I had taken careful attention to make sure that I was following the trail so I didn't end up getting lost.

I felt around on the wall and found a ladder. I gasped and began climbing up it.

When I finally got to the top, I hit the sunlight, leaving me to wonder what the heck that tunnel was supposed to be about.
