//February 25, 2030. Hospital Room No. 11038, 1:23 PM//

When I woke up, all I could see was a white ceiling looming over me. I was pretty tired for whatever reason, and my head throbbed like someone had hit it...

Wait... Someone did hit it!

I sat up immediately, making my head pound in pain. I rubbed my temples, begging the pain to leave me and bug somebody else. It was more than a little bit painful.

I looked around at my surroundings and realized that I was in a hospital room. I assumed that it was because I had been hit in the head.  Stupid frying pan... Why do I even have that frying pan when it's pretty rare for me to even cook on my own?! Most of the time, I'm over at Xeno's house and-

Wait! That isn't important right now!

I got to my feet and ran for the door. I noticed that it was unlocked and walked out, trying my hardest to ignore the pounding in the back of my head. I hadn't realized how much it hurt until now.

I heard familiar voices in the next room over, so I walked inside. M and N were talking. M was lying in a hospital bed while N sat near him.

"Am I interrupting anything?" I asked, hoping I didn't sound too awkward.

"Why are you here?" N asked curiously.

"I don't know how I got here. But I was at my house when somebody came in and hit me in the head with a frying pan if that's any explanation."

"I bet that someone found you and called the police to have you brought here," M deduced. "Do you know who attacked you?"

"No..." I said sheepishly.

"What if it was the Kuranin?! If they attacked M, they could have done the same to you, too!" N cried.

"Talk a little quieter... You passed out earlier, so we can't have you pushing yourself too hard, N," M told N, placing a hand on the latter's arm. N blushed, so I could tell that I was DEFINITELY interrupting something here.

"Wait... Did you just say that N passed out?" I asked. I wasn't sure if I had heard right since today was going so crazy.

"Yeah... When M was stabbed, then... I passed out from shock," N explained.

"I seem to recall Mr. West saying something about that," I recalled. "He said that one Q was arrested for it."

"Then... We need to find a way to prove his innocence!" N exclaimed.

"But how can we do that? All of us passed out earlier today. There's no way we'll be getting out of the hospital this soon if we were attacked today," M frowned.

"Then... You two can stay here and I'll go tell the investigators who did it!" N cried.

"Pierre Giuseppe... He did it," M said.

"You know... It's a little fuzzy, but I seem to recall seeing a girl attack me. It's kind of blurry in my head... But right before I passed out, I saw her hair whip around," I said, rubbing my head as the memory returned.

"Are you sure it wasn't a man with long hair?" N asked. "I have to be accurate about this stuff."

"No. I saw the outline. Definitely female," I assured him.

"In that case... I guess I can go and tell Interpol what we found out," N declared.

"Not yet," M said, cutting N off as the latter walked for the door.

N turned around and tilted his head. "Why? We need to get them caught as soon as possible. For all we know, they might end up attacking you again! That's really bad, M!!" N cried. His voice was cracking and panic was laced in, so I could tell he was more than a little bit distressed.

"Even if we need to catch them as soon as possible, we still don't know who attacked Vesgate here," M reminded N.

"If we assume that it was another member of the Kuranin, then it would have to have been Dee Vil or Lynnette Farrell. She still hasn't been caught," N declared.

"But we don't know for sure that it was a member of the Kuranin," I frowned. "Without that information, what can we do next?"

"Wait... I see a piece of paper sticking out of his pocket," M told N. "What's that?"

I checked my pockets and noticed something white was half in and half out of my pants pocket. I reached into the pocket and let my fingers curl around the paper. It looked like a crumpled up Post it note.

I checked one side and read it in my head: Milk, eggs, cheese, apples

That's my grocery list.

Once I realized this, I decided not to read it out loud. I thought that I had left this on my fridge back at home. If so, how did it end up in my pocket like this?

I flipped the paper over and read the opposite side. It was hard to make out among the crinkles in the page, but I could still read the chilling text with a little bit of effort:

Kuranin

"This says Kuranin! I bet that Dee Vil slipped it into my pocket after attacking me to show that it was a member of the Kuranin that committed the crime!" I exclaimed.

"And there it is! Our proof that the Kuranin committed the crime!" N exclaimed. "Can I go down to Interpol and tell the investigators about these clues now?!"

M smiled and nodded. "If you feel that you wish to, then go right ahead."

I handed N the Post it note. "I'm sure that you'll find this useful," I told him.

N clenched the piece of paper in his fist. "I won't let you down!" he exclaimed as he turned on his heel and ran for the door. He opened it and walked out before peering his head back in to give us a short wave before disappearing entirely.

M sighed dreamily as the Interpol agent left the room. Honestly, the more those two are around each other, the more I think that I really DID interrupt something between them.

So this book has eleven chapters left. Ten real chapters and an epilogue.

Woo.

The important thing is what book will come next, though.

I'm kind of considering finishing up my old Digimon book from last summer called 'Demi-Warriors of the Digital World' after I finish this book. The planning in the sequel to this, Phantom of the Dark, is not going very well and I think I just need a little bit more time to work out the little kinks in it before it can be posted.

Are you guys okay with this?? I hope so-
