They were a lot more surprised than I suspected that they would be, I must say.

Connor's eyes went wide with shock. Milan gasped and gaped at me, not moving in her shock. I let out a small, dorky smile to let them know that I am, in fact, not a monster. I'm just a normal human who's dealing with a bunch of stressful stuff such as her father being a killer.

"But... How are you even Lira? Lira disappeared ten years ago after the trial of her mother's murder and hasn't been seen since. The police gave up on searching for her ages ago," Connor asked me, frowning.

"How I'm Lira? I see... Well, I was kidnapped ten years ago after my mom..." I didn't say anything about her death. Even now, it pained to think about something so dark happening. "Anyways, after the trial, I was going to catch up to my dad. He had gotten really dark after the trial and almost left me at the courthouse. I chased after him and... When I woke up, I was with a woman."

"Do you know who it was? If she's not already in jail, we can get her to stay there for kidnapping a cute little girl!" Milan cried.

"I don't know. I never heard her name or saw much of her at all. I was locked in a closet for years on end, though she eventually stopped bringing me food. I most have had a rush of adrenaline or something, though, because I blacked out. When I came to, I was free and the woman was gone. Something must have happened to her," I explained.

"What happened after you escaped?" Connor questioned.

"I started looking for my father, obviously. I wanted him to know that I was alive and well. But then... You'll never believe this. He completely forgot about my disappearance and started killing people who were involved in my mother's murder. I acted under the name of Lynnette Farrell to hopefully save some of the supposed victims from his wrath." I sighed. "But it didn't work... None of it worked at all..."

"But it did work. You saved me," June reminded me.

"How did you save her?" Connor demanded of me.

"To test my loyalties to the Kuranin, my father and the others assigned me a mission: kill June. The plan was to kill the real August person from the trial, but... Things change based on those who are deceased," I said. "But either way, when I arrived at her house, I raised a weapon to her head and then..."

"She stopped. She said that she wanted to save me instead of kill me, which is why we worked together to fabricate a body and then run away from the scene so that nobody would realize it. But this body didn't have fingerprints since it was a dummy," June declared, cutting her off. "She helped me hide. Believe it or not, she's actually a pretty good person, despite what the Kuranin would say about her being a criminal like them."

"I never wanted to hurt any of you. My real duty was to save you all from their destructive ways... Save my father from himself... But that part of my plan failed from the start. My father was too wrapped up in my mother's death that he didn't even notice that his daughter was right there. He treated me like trash, even now, ten years later, and didn't regret it. I see now that the only reason he was ever around was my mother. He wanted her to remain Janelle Giuseppe and not a single woman," I declared. The words stung my heart, made tears form, but I didn't mind the truth.

That's wrong, actually. I do mind. I mind that my father only cared about my mom and probably never gave me a second look from the day I was born. I look just like him and he doesn't care. It's all my mom. Something like that hurts, you know.

"Speaking of your father... We need to catch him before he kills anyone else. I don't want anyone else to get killed because all of this. Besides, you're not there anymore to keep anyone from really getting killed," Connor reminded us.

"Then let's go to Interpol and tell them that we know where they are! Maybe they'll have Celosia back by now, too!" Milan declared.

"Oh yeah... The hostages... I'm afraid I don't know of their fates as of now. Sorry. As far as they know, I'm still in Interpol's prison," I frowned. "But going down to Interpol would be a good idea. Let's do it before this traffic gets too much worse and we can't get out."

"Thank goodness! I was scared you'd be mad at us for being late though it was really all the stupid traffic that held us up!" Milan cried in relief. "You're really nice, Ms. Lira!"

I smiled and ruffled her hair. "Thanks, kiddo. But now, we need to get down there. We can take my car," I announced. I pointed to a black car nearby. I had parked it rather lazily, as I wasn't quite used to driving yet.

June nodded and ran for the car. She slid into the seat behind the driver. Milan ran after her and sat next to her, as I'm pretty sure that she's too short to ride in the front.

Connor got into the passenger's seat as I took the driver's place. "Here we go... Time to finally bring all of this to an end once and for all," I murmured. I fished out my keys from my pocket and inserted the right key into the designated hole.

The engine came to life with a gentle purr. I sighed and closed my eyes, preparing myself for the incoming onslaught of overwhelming emotion I'd be going through these next few hours.

It wasn't long before I was done and ready to start. Eyes narrowing, I let my foot slip onto the accelerate button before beginning the familiar ride to Interpol.
