 TITLE: Red Pavers
Sub-Genre: Tragic
Author: Luisa Nicole Escobar

The mournful rays of the sun that ripples the place and penetrates within my cloak. The stench of the cluster of crimson red roses from the near bushes that arouses my somnolence. The sound of the chirping birds that coaxes me to tweak their feathered skin. The winsome breeze of the wind that makes the grasses in the meadow sway. I can feel and observe those little things every time I remember you. Because it reflects on how I cherished the little moments we had before. Even now, I still treasure it.

I can still remember how unique our love story was. It's been seven years ago when the last time we talked. I want you to know that until now, I'm still waiting for the time that we will meet each other.

Five days before the Valentine's Day. We are able to decorate our classroom and the corridor for the celebration of the Valentine's Day this February 14 here in our school. Our class was divided into two groups and our professor slashed adviser assigned a group to be in charged on decorating the inside of the classroom while the other group was in charged for the corridor. I'm in charge of decorating the corridor with my other classmates. The head chairman decided that there will be a color coding. Baby pink for freshmen college students, fuchsia pink for sophomores, scarlet for juniors and red for senior students. I'm a sophomore so we have to design everything of the sophomores' property with color fuchsia pink. The head chairman also said that we have to put pavers on the side of the path way and paint it based on the color coding. On the Valentine's Day, we will spread fuchsia pink roses on the path way. We also have a scheme to make a little Valentine's celebration in our classroom where each will have their date. By the way, this is Aryellah but they call me Yellah for short. I have no mates and I'm a loner. What I have is just my closest cousin from the senior college students, Aryanna or I call her Yanna for short. She's always there to be my buddy or she's the one who stands as my bestfriend.

It's lunch time and it is usual that we, Yanna and me will take our lunch together at the Seniors' hall. We're here at the table in front of the mini garden of Yanna's institute. I can peek the red pavers on the side of their path way. They have finished putting it already and painted it as well.

After we've finished our lunch, we sat on the red pavers on the side of the path way in front of their classroom. The environment was so placid and I love the way the wind puffs as it sends my long hair into chaos. Yanna is reading a book while me, I'm observing, feeling and smelling the scent of the nature. It was so green and fresh. Out of nowhere, my eyes went glued to the red pavers. My gaze was now focused on the pavers. There's nothing on these but I think, I want to do something about these which I can't guess out what. Weird be like, right? Count all the red pavers in this side? Trace the pattern on how the pavers were arranged? Test how hard these pavers are?

The red paver in front of me with a mark of a black pen caught my attention. Curiosity trickles my mind if there is something under that paver. I lifted it up and saw a paper folded many times and a twenty peso bill over it. The paper looks like teared up from a notebook. There were words written on it, but the most highlighted words and written in bold is, "Whoever finds this, put also a twenty peso bill and chat me. PS: I'm a guy."

It made me chuckle a little and scoffed but heck, I'm curious. I get a twenty peso bill from my pocket; get a pen and a piece of paper to write a reply.

"Hello! I found it."

I was supposed to say more but I doubt. For our first convo, that should be enough. I folded the paper with the twenty peso bill. I brought back the red paver to its current position.
