A Limerick for the Road
Uh! Three Gun I'm feeling queasy!
"Nothin' in this life is easy!
Hang in there, Ruechari!"
Three Gun said to me.
"I don't know what I do
If there hadn't been a you.
How did you learn to fight so well?"
"My Pa was Quick Draw Gyro, you know."
"Oh do tell?"
"Another time perhaps,
You are lookin' a little frail
Let's get you to Ol' Doc Vale."
The Doc came rushin'
When he'd seen the blood gushin'
From my upper thigh.
"I'll leave here
Ruechari my dear
It's time I said goodbye."
I sat on the table
Feelin' a little unstable but
Asked the doc for a pen.
I took out my notes
And this is what I wrote
For my brand new friend.
There once was a horse named Six Star
Who traveled both near and far
He wanted his Lean
And so made a big scene
When trottin' right into the bar.
I seen the smile grace his mouth
"Good one pardner, I'll be headn' south
Need some time to clear my head
Sure am glad you're not dead."
He took my Limerick
Placed it in his vest.
All I could say was, "I wish you the best."
I hated to see him go.
But somethin' told me
we'd meet again.
My now friend
who was a foe.
