Still Family (Leandra Lynx)

Whatever else she was told,

Lean firmly believed in her father's fault.

The debt,

The circumstances that led

To her mother's and Charlie's loss and the Midnight Gold.

That's why she refused to read

And so the letter landed in front of his feet.

'I thought, you was gone –

Just like Mom!

And yet, we meet -!

Alister's Limerick

Lean remained mad at her father

Saying, "He's just a bother."

But ignoring her frown

He made her sit down

To learn from what she might gather

He told her their house was quite small

Needing money for maintenance and all

So he ran drugs for the KitKat

Hired Hunter for combat

But then they started to quarrel

Alister said he wanted to quit

But Hunter was having none of it

And one day, when all but mom were in town

They returned to find the house burned down

And the rest of the family then split

Hoping it would make her feel better

He handed Lean the letter

Charlie had asked he deliver

Its words made her quiver

And her eyes just a little bit wetter

Still Family

Whatever else she was told,

Lean firmly believed in her father's fault.

The debt,

The circumstances that led

To her mother's and Charlie's loss and the Midnight Gold.

That's why she refused to read

And so the letter landed in front of his feet.

"I thought, you was gone –

Just like Mom!

And yet, we meet – !

Tears were spilling over, on the floor she broke down,

Have you been spending the whole time here in town?!

She spat, searching his face

For a trace of remorse or regret.

All she earned, was a frown.

With Hunter you quarreled; about the cocopops, too?

Or just about how to celebrate your coup?

Is it so much fun

To hurt someone?

No, I can't hear you!"

Later, back at the Saloon, Lean retreated in a corner;

She needed to be alone.

Eventually, she felt some better

And unfolded the letter.
