Among Gamblers (1)
Throats were dry, nerves on the edge –
And nobody up for a match.
The town hall's doors closed,
And Lean almost dozed off on the way back to the Saloon;
Things got out of hand too soon.
Suddenly, there was this stranger, sitting next to Lean at the bar.
And the worst: That guy looked shockingly familiar.
Was it the pipe in his mouth?
The hat that covered his face?
"Old man?!" Lean squealed.
The stranger turned his head.
"Time's up, Lean. You got your chance,
Now quit investigating the cocopop case!"
"I won't! And you -"
"Oh, I can and will make you, he laughed,
Remember Yahtzee?"
"I'll send you to jail! Where you may sit and watch me catchin' -"
"Fledgling! Don't even know how to write a proper limerick!"
"Teach me then, old man. Do at least once something good
And show me a piece of art on family."
