I watched Ruechari walk back in the door
As I pulled myself off the jailhouse floor
In a flash, like lightening, i drew my gun
in anticipation of what will come
"I'd drop that piece, if I were you
unless you want this life all through."
Ruechari looked at me kind of strange
"You're talking different, your voice has changed."
"I have to go," I said aloud
"I have to get away from this crowd."
I put my gun back in my belt
A bump on my head was what i felt
"You really didn't need to hit me you know
I was going to let you go."
You were using me as a shield," she yelled.
"How the hell could I tell."
"Fair enough," I turned and said.
"Stop right there, or you'll be dead."
I headed to the backroom door
I heard a click and turned once more
Ruechari's gun aimed at my head
A look in her eye that wanted me dead
"You won't pull the trigger, my dear
Of this I have absolutely no fear."
"And why is that," she sneered at me.
"Give me one good reason to let you be."
I smiled a smile, and turned away
"We will meet another day.
But if you're wondering, who I am
I can tell you I am no ordinary man.
Just talk to the Chief, the man you know
As your father, though I tell you so ..."
I turned back to her, she lowered her gun
"Who are you? Why do you run?"
"There is someone I need to see
If I am ever to truly be free.
But talk to the chief and pass this on
It's time the truth come moving along."
"Who are you?" Ruechari pleaded to me
I turned again and started to flee
"In time, my dear, the truth you will know
But I will tell you one thing is so
You are certainly someone's daughter
But the Chief.
Is not your father"
