(( Samheed's POV))

"Come on! Hustle up!" Sean yelled at us as we ran laps around the gym.

"Why are we running?" An upperclassman yelled back at him. "You aren't running, so why do we have to?"

"What do you think I was doing during lunch period?" Sean snapped at him. "Stop complaining, and then maybe you will get just a small bit of respect for what I do."

The whole team managed a small laugh before continuing to run the last lap.

Of course I was the last one to finish running, and I was so exhausted that I collapsed onto the ground.

Sean didn't waste any time pulling me off of the gym floor.

"Get up Sam, we still got thirty more minutes of practice left to go."

"Can I take a break?" I panted as I stood there, my hands on my knees as I tried to get my breathing normal again.

"If I let you have a break, then I'll have to let the whole team get one as well," he stated to me.

When I looked up however he was smiling at me.

"Go get a drink," he laughed a little while patting my back.

"Thanks," I said while managing a smile.

He left me alone as he instructed the others on what to do next. I sat down and took a drink of water.

That's when I noticed her out of the corner of my eye.

Lani was standing by the closed gym door, and she was staring at me. From where I was sitting I could tell her cheeks went a shade of pink, and she ducked behind the door.

I laughed slightly as I walked up to the door, and opened it.

Sure enough there she was.

"Uh... Hi Sam," she coughed awkwardly. "How's life?"

"I could ask you the same. Were you watching me?" I asked her.

"Huh? No, of course not," she said, but it was obvious that she was lying.

"Sure," I laughed. "Anyways, what brings you here anyways besides watching me be all sweaty?"

"Oh, uh, I don't know. I am waiting for my brother to get done with academic team, and I just so happened to stop by the gym. Then I saw you sitting there, and we made eye contact really awkwardly."

I nodded and stood aside so she could walk in the gym.

"Sean doesn't mind people watching you know. You can come in, even though It's just practice."

She seemed hesitant as she stood there, but after awhile of her probably battling  with her thoughts she decided to walk in.

Our footsteps echoed across the floor, and across the wooden bleachers.

"Just sit here and you'll be fine," I smiled a little at her.

Lani sat down with her stuff, and just looked up at me.

"I guess I'll text my brother that I am in the gym before calling my dad to pick us up."

"Yeah, that seems like a good plan, " I told her.

I wished her goodbye before heading off to practice once more.
