((Henry's POV))

Sam's party was amazing.

I was actually shocked that I was invited. I mean, him and I started to get closer, but we weren't party level close. And he said I could invite any other guy who wanted to come. Naturally I invited Crow and Thatcher since they're my friends.

Things between me and Crow have been.... Awkward to say the least. After I told him how I felt at the dance, it was all downhill from there. It was hard to get back to normal life. Neither of us knew what to say.

So we didn't say anything about it. We acted like strangers a little. It had been awkward when I invited him. He almost said no, I saw it in his eyes. But he soon agreed since I don't think he wanted to let me down.

When we arrived at Sam's party, Sam's mom greeted us as if she was the sweetest peach. She let us in with all smiles and happy comments.

We found it funny, me and Thatcher, when we talked about it. Sam is like a sour lemon himself and nowhere sweet like his mother.

Sam was sweet in his own way. After all, lemons could be made into sweet lemonade.

"Wait, so your sister is the sugar and he's the lemon. So together they make lemonade," Thatcher snickered next to me as we stood in the corner holding cups of, you guessed it, lemonade.

"This lemonade is a little sour though," I said.

"Because Lani isn't here."

Both of us laughed. It was weird, this conversation. Talking about anything with Thatcher made me smile these days.

Just then Alex came over to us. Thatcher was the first one to wave a little.

"Hey man," Thatcher said.

"Hey. Have you guys seen Sam?"

"The birthday boy? No," I sighed as I drained my red solo cup of liquid. "We've just been standing here talking."

"Right," Alex sighed. "Well I have no idea where he is. His mom is looking for him too."

"Maybe he's just in the bathroom?" I brought up.

"Maybe. Hopefully he shows up soon," Alex said with a small sigh.

"Did he get to talk to Lani today?" Thatcher asked as he took my cup to throw away.

"I don't think so," Alex mentioned, putting his hands in his jean pockets. "His parents are becoming more strict with everything he does. Mostly his dad."

Thatcher went to throw our stuff away, excusing himself. I watched him go, and I didn't catch Alex smiling to me at first.

"You move on quickly," Alex chuckled.

"W-What?" I stammered. "What are you talking about?"

"You and Thatcher. Are you two a thing?" Alex asked with a smug look on his face.

I wanted to slap that look off his face more than anything.

"No. Just friends and always will be," I grumbled, but I could feel my cheeks getting a little warm.

"Alright," Alex laughed. "Alright. I trust you. Anyways, I'm going to go find Sam. See ya Haluki."

"See you..."

Soon Alex left, making me the only one left in the corner.

Alright, I'm no Aaron (who is on the couch on his phone and not socializing with anyone). I'm Henry Haluki. I have to socialize with someone-

"Hey little dude!"

I looked over to see two guys coming towards me. Will and Cole.

Welp. Here goes my life.
