((Alex's POV))

Before the big basketball game seemed to be going by in a blur.

I remember arriving. I remember working with Meg to work as the student ambassadors we were. We managed to raise over $400 for the donations before the game ever started. Ms.Morning seemed to be over the moon as we took the bucket to her at the ticket stand she was running.

I remember Sky down with the cheerleaders since she had decided to stay on the squad, and her smiling at me with that gorgeous smile with a wave of her pom pom. The stands in the gym were filled as our guys went down on the court. When Samheed's last name was called with his number, 12, I felt my heart catch in my throat. He already looked excited as he ran on the court for the starting line up. His hair flew behind him a little with how long it was getting, and I could see him laugh as he gave Sean a big high five.

"Aaron for the love of- take your headphones out," Meg snapped at my brother.

Aaron didn't hear her as he had his earbuds in. He was the only one dressed in black. The rest of us were wearing the school colors of red and gold.

I pulled one of his earbuds out, which I got a nasty look from him for doing.

"Hey, I'm listening to music here!" He snapped.

"Well you're at the biggest game ever!" Meg yelled at him. "Can you pay attention? Sam's down there!"

Aaron shrugged and took them out. He was still getting used to the whole being a good friend thing, so we all decided to ignore it for now.

Soon the game was starting. Sean obviously was the star of the court as he made the first basket. Our home crowd cheered, and the cheerleaders waved their gold pom poms in happiness.

The other team was still amazing though. Fireside High had some of the scariest looking dudes on it. They all looked like they could be scary pirates with most of them. Their mascot was a pirate after all.

The game was so intense to watch. One minute we'd be ahead, and then the next minute we'd be behind. The score was 30-29 at half time.

"Come on Alex, more donation time," Meg told me as she grabbed my arm.

I didn't want to go. I really wanted to see the cheerleaders at half time. It's a good thing our school didn't have cheerleaders for the soccer season. I would 100% be distracted the whole time with wanting to look at Sky.

So as the cheerleaders performed their routine, more pumped because we were winning, Meg and I went around to get more donations. People were more annoyed with us this time, but we focused more on the parent crowd that was there over the students more.

We saw Mrs. and Mr. Burkesh. Before I could stop Meg, she raced up to them.

"Hi Mr. and Mrs. Burkesh!" She smiled brightly.

"Hi dear!" Mrs.Burkesh smiled. Mr.Burkesh didn't look pleased to be interrupted by us.

"Care to donate to the arts program?" Meg asked them. "All profits go to saving the program so all the students can embrace their creative side and flourish-"

"No," Mr.Burkesh interrupted. "I'm not interested in donating. Besides, theatre is distracting my son. Better to be gone with it."

"I-" Meghan started but decided against it. Her smile had faltered before, but she forced it back on her face. "Ok. Thank you though. We really hope you change your mind in the future."

Meg turned and left. I went to follow, but I couldn't help but notice the sad look on Mrs.Burkesh's face.

We still got $50 in total during halftime, but Meg and I agreed that was kind of a bust still. It was better than no money though.
