((Sky's POV))I think I win the award for being the happiest girl in this one moment in time. My heart had been racing from nerves as I watched our high school soccer team make their way to the opposing teams goal.
The tension had built up so much that the whole crowd was silent. All our eyes watched as that simple black and white ball flew so high in the air.
It wasn't going to make it. It was flying a bit too high.
The wind was the one that saved the day. The weather, the cold nip in the air, had saved it all. The ball lowered, and the goalie didn't even have time to think before the ball hit the net hard.
They won it all!
The crowd went wild. All the cheers filled my ears, and the noise was so loud that I had to cover my ears. I was cheering too, and in fact I was jumping up and down with the rest of our group. Meghan was shaking the cow bell that she brought so much that I was afraid it was going to fly out of her hands.
Samheed and Lani held each other in a hug as they were jumping in place. It seemed the whole world was so happy at this moment.
When my eyes locked with Alex's though, not even ten feet away since we sat in the first row of the bleachers, I felt that I was suddenly more happier then anyone here.
Because he was smiling while I stared into his brown eyes.
I found myself leaning over the railing as soon as he came over to me.
He was so sweaty, his hair stuck to his forehead with beads of sweat rolling down his temples. Both of us just stood there, everyone else in my mind had disappeared at this moment.
He was the first to speak out of both of us when he said,
"Well, we did it," he smiled warmly.
"Wow, you just won the biggest game of the year, and you're not as ecstatic?" I snorted a little.
"Sorry," he apologized as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'm just a little awkward around you."Before I could even respond, Lani and Sam had appeared behind Alex. The two had jumped on him, and they all were a laughing mess. Soon Meghan joined the group hug as well with her cowbell and all.
I was too scared to move. Too focused on the words that still rang in the air. He said seven words, just those seven to make my heart stop it seemed.
"Sky! Come join us!" Lani laughed as she looked at me.
Me and Alex made eye contact again. His brown eyes were shining at me, his cheeks still red from all the running that he just did.
"Yeah, okay," I managed to say as I stepped off the bleachers.
Alex was the first one to approach me. The others didn't come up.
They knew what was up.
Alex hugged me tightly, and the first thing I noticed was the smell of his sweat. I was kinda grossed out, but it soon became not a problem. His jersey was sticking to his shirt, and overall he was just a sweaty mess.
Did I mind? You could say that I found it comforting.
The hug was lasting long, and he held me tightly. I glanced over his shoulder to see Meghan and Lani giggling to each other. When Samheed and I made awkward eye contact, he just gave me a small thumbs up.
Alex pulled away first. His cheeks were still pink, but this time I didn't think it was the heat from all that running making them like that.
When I looked around him again, the rest of the gang was nowhere in sight.
