(( Meghan's POV))Carina ended up taking me to her house so I could hang out. As I went inside her place, she apologized for the mess all over. Her house was a whirlwind, but I tried not to judge other people. And besides, it was a mess that could be cleaned up in 30 minutes tops. My house got like that all the time, with Sean's basketball stuff and just my music things everywhere. I couldn't help but notice some child's toys in places though.
"Tea?" She offered as I sat down at the small kitchen table.
"Yes please," I smiled softly at her offer.
"Do you have a preference?"
"Green tea is fine. Or whatever you want to make," I said.
She nodded, and I watched her go to work. She seemed to do everything with ease as she put the kettle on the stove. I honestly felt bad for making her have to deal with my annoying mess.
"My friend who runs a daycare should be dropping Seth back home soon so sorry if I have to step out for a minute," Carina sighed.
"It's alright," I said. "I'm already a burden on you as it is. I'm sorry I totally cried back there..."
"Meghan, don't say that. You're never a burden," Carina told me, actually being serious with her tone. "And besides, girls are suppose to support each other and be there for each other always."
"That's true," I nodded as she got two mugs out for us.
"So, what happened?" Carina asked me as she placed the teabags in the matching blue mugs. "You don't have to tell me, but I figured you'd want to get it off your chest."
"Well," I bit my lip, honestly not sure where to even begin. "You know Cole...?"
"Cole Wickett?"
"Yeah"
"I know him," she said simply, crossing her arms over her chest. "What about him?"
"Well at the beginning of the school year I maybe thought he was cute. And then as the year progressed I just... realized I only liked him because I feel like I had to follow society's norms and like a guy always. I realized I don't really like anyone romantically," I told her softly.
Carina seemed to nod. Her nod wasn't just a listening nod, it seemed to be an understanding one. I felt like I could talk to her about my feelings for hours and she would always listen and take me seriously.
"And he kind of freaked out when I told him today after school that I didn't like him like that... He said that Alex and Sam wouldn't be my friends if I was ugly and that I was ugly at heart."
"Ok first of all," Carina said, actually sounding pissed. "You're a Queen, alright? Don't let some stupid guy tell you any differently. Second of all, you are gorgeous but that's not why people are friends with you. They're friends with you because you're a very kind and understanding person. Cole is honestly an ass."
I couldn't help but smile as the tea kettle already began to whistle. My eyes couldn't help but watch the hot water pour into the mugs.
"Thanks Carina... I realize that now.. I shouldn't let some stupid boy tell me what I am and what I'm not."
"Amen sister," she said, placing my mug in front of me.
I picked the teabag string up and dunked it in and out a bit. I now knew why my brother was in love with Carina. She was a listener, but also could call you out on the bs around you. She could be honest with you, and her smile was honestly so contagious. My brother probably could write a full paper about her, but I was already catching a paragraph glimpse.
