Hi y'all! I'm back with a new chapter. I graduated college (which is just mind blowing to think about because I started this when I was a freshman in high school). I'm not giving up!!! I refuse to lol. The image on top is done by @anxiousasalex aka @ anxiousas.alex on Instagram. It's Samheed from Chapter 44 through Alex's POV and I LOVE IT! I thought you all should see it since the artwork is stunning. I love to feature fan art in chapter updates. Check out Alex's art on Insta since he is incredibly talented!  I always love when you all make fan art for this fanfic. It gives me motivation to keep going. I hope you guys enjoy this next part, since I tried to make it long to make up for the 6 month hiatus (whoops). Hoping that 2024 is the year I finish this fanfiction (probably not but a girl can dream). Ok I'm done rambling, here's the next chapter!

((Meg's POV))

Samheed came back to school before Sky came back. Samheed came back that Friday, but he wasn't very talkative. Clearly Sam had a recovering black eye when he came back. We had all asked if he was okay, which he just simply nodded. The only person he seemed to talk to in private moments was Alex. I caught them between classes talking at Alex's locker, their hands interlocked while Sam looked upset.

It was a little disappointing to not know what was going on. I've been friends with Samheed for the longest. It was just us at the beginning of last year and this year. Now that our friend group had expanded, Sam and I were more distant than ever before.

"Do you think Sky is going to come back on Monday?" Lani asked me in the library.

I looked up from my math textbook. We were working on homework after school together. It was just us. It felt like recently life had just been us two.

"I'm not sure," I admitted. "She hasn't responded to any of my texts after we all found out that Alex broke up with her."

"She hasn't responded to my texts either," Lani said, frowning. "I'm really worried about her. Should we stop by her house after this to see if she needs someone?"

"No," I said, shaking my head. "Sky is the kind of person who gets mad if you try to help her through something. She needs to open to you about it. She doesn't like to be backed into a corner."

Lani looked unsure about not helping her out. Lani had a soft and kind heart and always wanted to help. That was one thing I really admired about her, since she always came from good intentions.

"Do you think we should call her?" Lani asked.

"If you want to. To make you feel better," I said, shrugging. "I don't think she'll answer."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Lani, Sky is a complicated person. She's going through a lot with losing Alex. I really think she wants to be left alone."

Lani looked over at her phone and sighed. I could see her flipping through the options in her head. She soon shook her head, picking her pencil back up.

"You're right. She would respond to our texts if she wanted to talk," she said.

"Let's just hope we see her Monday," I said.

Little did we know at the time that Sky would come back on Monday. She would come throw a curve ball into everything.

Monday morning came, and I finally got to talk to Samheed alone. We were sitting in the library together, where the group would meet us before school started.

"Hey," I managed to say. "I know you don't like to talk about it, since you look exhausted still. But just know that I'm always going to be here for you. Always."
