Unwanteds High (AU)

The Library

Yayyy another oneshot! Just in case no one knows, this takes place in the library when Sam, Aaron, Clementi, and Ms.Octavia were stuck in the library in Dragon Fire. This has Dragon Fire spoilers, so if you haven't finished or read it yet I suggest coming back to this later. This has some language in it, but like nothing too extreme. I mean, they are in their 20's lol so. Oh, and enjoy the Alexheed ;)

Samheed huffed as he wondered how he got in this situation. Being stuck in the library obviously wasn't anyone's ideal since there was no way to get out. This might be his wife's ideal place to be stuck, but even so she would want to get out for food and water. He was already so thirsty and they had only been here for two hours. He noted to himself to always stay hydrated. Just in case there was a 0.0001% chance this would happen again. And with Frieda Stubbs in control, it was pretty likely that something like this could happen again.

Going through the shelves of books, he scowled as he noticed he had absolutely no idea how to look for specific books containing what they needed: a way to fix the tube. Lani was the book expert, not him at all. He hasn't stepped foot in the library 3rd floor for so long. Those days with Will seemed only like yesterday now.

There were other times he came in here of course. Later in the evening he knew exactly where Lani would be, and he would shake her awake for her to go to bed. If he didn't get sleep normally, it was better that she always got a nice rest.

Sleep back then was decent. He still had restless nights here and there, but after everything that happened on the Land of the Dragons, he knew he wasn't going to be getting a good night sleep for probably the rest of his life. He felt it now. Tired, hungry, and thirsty. Since when did he not notice how badly he had been treating his body?

When he had a show to direct, somehow he always took care of himself for his students. It would be embarrassing to him if the theatre instructor wasn't always at his best. That's how Mr.Appleblossom was. He had to be in good shape for people to look up to him, just like he and many others had admired Mr.Appleblossom.

Now though, there hadn't been a show to direct. The theatre by now maybe was being destroyed with the rest of the mansion. There was no way to tell what was going on out there. Hell, he really hoped Lani was alright. He felt sick just thinking about what could be happening to her with him not being able to do anything. Warbler had been the first pain. He couldn't stop them from hurting her since he was being hurt to. But with the war, with her losing movement in her legs... that's what caused him the most pain. He could have stopped it. Just like he could have stopped Meg from dying too.

Suddenly a rush of pain filled his hand as the bookshelf shook violently. It almost tipped over even as he held back a yell in pain. He had punched the wood on the side of the shelf as hard as he could without knowing.

"Punching the shelf isn't going to find what we're looking for," a voice said behind him in distaste.

Sam automatically knew who it was. There were only three others in here. This voice he has known for years.

"Shut up..." he grumbled.

"Sorry. Didn't know you were still grumpy over here."

Sam couldn't even bear to look at him. He knew that if he did, he was just going to be reminded of what happened earlier in front of everyone.

"Why are you even here?" Samheed hissed. "We're suppose to be spread out."

"Considering that you're punching shelves, I thought you weren't doing much looking or needed my help," Aaron said as he pulled a book off the shelf.

Samheed stole a glance at him and immediately was hit with pain. Aaron looked calm and collected while he was over here punching innocent shelves. Aaron was acting so civil after basically telling him he didn't consider them friends. He had made it very clear that they were people who just had to deal with one another because everyone else was friends.
