((Sky's POV))

At lunch. That's when I knew something was up.

Our group usually sat together. I usually sat next to Alex and Meg. But today was different.

Alex was next to me, but Meg wasn't. The table only had Aaron, him, and I. The others were all the way across the cafeteria. Sam, Lani, and Meg all together.

"Um, what's going on?" I asked the two Stowe twins. "What happened?"

"Nothing," Alex grumbled as he picked at his lunch with his fork. "Nothing at all."

"Nothing? Our friends sitting all the way across the room to get away from us obviously means something," I grumbled in annoyance.

Aaron looked up from his phone and finally noticed what was going on. He took his headphones out and looked confused.

"Hey, what's going on? Where are the others?" He asked.

"Just ignore them," Alex snapped as he was getting even more annoyed. "We're fine."

I was so confused as I looked over. I could catch Lani looking at me, but she soon looked away once more once she noticed I had been staring too.

"Wait, does this have to deal with the party?" Aaron asked. "You were all pissed at Sam's party. You two got in a fight huh."

"A fight?" I frowned as I reached over and held Alex's hand. "What happened?"

"Nothing!" Alex snapped as he let go of my hand. "Nothing is going on."

Him letting go of my hand hurt. It hurt my heart as I saw that he was obviously upset. I wanted to help, but uncertainty filled my heart. How do I help him feel better..? Was I suppose to know this as his girlfriend?

"Well I'm going to head out. I'm going to call Kaylee just for a little bit before class starts. See ya," Aaron said as he got up.

"See you," I frowned softly.

Aaron grabbed his tray, his phone with his headphones plugged in, and walked off to be alone to talk to his girlfriend.

That left the two of us alone.

Alex didn't even look at me as he hadn't even touched his lunch. He was just picking at it with a frown on his face.

"Something happened," I sighed softly.

"Yeah. But I don't want to talk about it," he grumbled as he finally put his fork down to just give up on his nonexistent appetite.

"Alex," I frowned. "You can trust me. I'm your girlfriend."

"It's not that I don't trust you," He said, obviously hurt. "I just... I don't want to split our group apart."

"Our group is split right now," I sighed with a small laugh of disbelief. "I'm pretty sure that it can't get worse."

"Look, I just don't want to talk about it," he said as he stood up with his tray. "I'm sorry. I trust you, but I want to keep this conflict between me and Sam. We'll resolve it soon enough."

He walked off to put his tray away, leaving me behind to feel even more heart broken. What could have possibly happened to make him so distant? Him and Sam fought sometimes, but it had never gotten this bad to where they physically could not be by one another.

Would it continue for awhile to be this way?

I stood up with my tray, feeling lost and confused. Maybe I should try and ask Meg or Lani if they knew. Samheed would never tell me. Perhaps Meg would. If something was going on, Lani probably didn't know either.
