Fate (Rhett and Link fanfic)

Meeting the Parents

So once Link took Kate home her parents asked her how work went and she said it was good. She told her parents that she hung out with a friend; a guy friend. Her dad told her the next time that she hung out with him, he had to meet him. She said "ok fine" and then went to her office and went on her laptop to watch old GMM episodes.

After she got tired of that she went up to bed and put her music on and fell asleep to Rhett and Link's "this song" which she downloaded as soon as she got home.

The next morning she got a text from Link that said "hey u wanna hang out today?" and she answered it immediately. "Yes!!!" She then showered and got dressed. She had a short tan dress on with cowboy boots and her hair was down. She put a little makeup on and was about to text Link and ask him when he was gonna be there. Her dad noticed that she got all dressed up. He asked her where she was going all dressed up. She said "out with a friend." "Is it that same guy from last night?" Her dad asked her. "Yes dad" she replied. "Tell him I want to meet him" he told her. "Ok dad" she said.

She then texted Link and told him what her dad said. "I figured it would happen sooner or later. I would probably do the same thing to my daughter when she gets to be that age" he replied. Link then pulled up a few minutes later and got out of his car. He then knocked on the front door of Kate's house and she answered it. She gave Link a big hug and he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. Then her father showed up and invited Link in.

They shook hands and Link introduced himself. "Hello sir. My name is Charles." "Ohh going with the formal approach huh Link" Kate thought to herself and smiled. "Hello Charles. I'm Ed" her father replied. "Hey you look a lot like one of those  guys that she always watches on her laptop. What was his name Kate?" Her father asked her. "Link" she replied. "Ahhh yes. Link. That's what his name was" her father said.

All Link could do was smile and laugh in his head because her father had no clue that he was talking about the guy who was right in front of him. "I can see that" he then said after Kate's father finished talking. "Well we better get going.... Right Link? I mean.. 'Charles'?" "Oh.... Right. It was nice to meet you sir!" Link said and then her dad said goodbye.

Her dad had a suspicious look on his face when he said goodbye. Kate just smiled and laughed it off. Immediately after that, they went out to Link's car. Once they got there the two of them started to laugh hysterically and Link drove off. "I can't believe you introduced yourself as Charles.

Almost everyone that knows you calls you Link and that includes all the mythical beasts" she said. "Well technically (and legally) my name is Charles and Lincoln is my middle name. Link is just short for Lincoln. Remember there are three generations of Charles Lincoln Neal in my family. Actually 4 if you count Lincoln" Link said. "Oh. I guess you're right Link" Kate said.

L: "yeah. Hahaha I know I am. It's MY name."

K: "hahaha..... So where are we going exactly?"

L: "I'm not telling you."

K: "And why not?"

L: "It's a surprise."

K: "Awwwwww no fun." She then crosses her arms and pouts.

L: "Sorry Kate but you're going to love this. Trust me"

K: "Ok Link. I trust you."
