A Song For When

Link went back home to California. It was definitely a trip to remember. He told Rhett that he had an amazing time with Kate. He ended up telling Rhett everything about his trip. He even told Rhett about her bad day at work. He said "On the day before I left, she was at work and one of the people that she used to work with showed up and it bothered her.

It bothered her so much that she was still upset even when I was with her. I told her that I would do something to help her feel better." "And what would that be?" Rhett asked. "I would like to do a GMM where we do a 'song for when'. Instead of taking ideas from mythical beasts, we would do a cover song and it will surprise Kate when she watches."

R: "What song were ya thinking?"

L: "Hey there Delilah"

R: "Oh. Good song. And what were you thinking of titling this 'song for when'?"

L: "A song for when you have a bad day"

R: "Sounds good to me bro."

L: "Let's do it!"

And so they started recording the song. Rhett and Link had thought of different ways of tweaking the song to make it personal but they didn't want to have it just be about one person even though it was. They wanted all mythical beasts to feel like "Delilah." So they kept it the way it was originally written.

About a week later the episode that included this song aired. They introduced this song as a song for when you're having a bad day. Rhett pulled out his guitar and sat on a stool and Link sat on the stool to his right. Then Rhett started playing the chords to "Hey There Delilah" and started singing. Link joined in on the next verse. They then alternated between verses and sang the chorus together. At the end of the song Link said "You know who you are Delilah" and then they cut it.

After that song Link spun the wheel and they ended the episode. Then they went on to talk about Rhett's break from the show in Good Mythical More. They didn't talk about Link's break.... yet.

Kate is now at a point in her day where she can watch that day's episode of GMM. So she goes to watch it and she can't help but smile and stare at Link the entire episode. Then the "song for when" came on.

Kate was in tears the entire time. Now of course these were tears of joy. But she still was crying at the end of it. What he said at the end really got to her. He actually sang that song for her. She felt like she had to do something for him in return. It was going to be a thank you for the song.
