At work Kate was miserable. All she wanted to do was go home and cry. She didn't want to do anything else. Not even watch GMM. Her coworkers noticed this but didn't say anything. At least not right away.

At the start of her shift she was placed in the clearance section. She tried to focus on what she was doing as a way of distracting her from her reality. It wasn't working too well. She always ended up having to wipe her eyes when no one was looking. Her best friend Alex was in the same section as her and saw that she was upset. He went to go talk to her and try to cheer her up. When he got close enough he saw that her eyes were red and puffy from crying and her cheeks were stained with tears.

"What's wrong?" He asked her.

"Oh nothing...." She lied as a tear streamed down her left cheek.

"Ok that's not nothing" Alex said as he wiped the tear away with his thumb. This made her smile.

After a long silence and an exaggerated sigh Kate finally told Alex "I just had the weirdest dream the other night. It all felt so real that it couldn't have been a dream. When I woke up this morning I was expecting to be somewhere else. I wasn't expecting it to be winter either."

"Well where and when exactly were you expecting to be?"

"I was expecting to be in North Carolina in the middle of Autumn."

"Huh.... Interesting...." Alex said.

"Yeah..." Kate whispered as she got back to what she was doing.

2 hours later

"I'm going back to work" Kate said to one of her managers as cheerfully as she could.

"Okay. You're in the fitting rooms until we close!"

"Okay!"

"At least it was better than the clearance section" Kate thought to herself.

When Kate got to the fitting rooms she was bombarded by a disaster in every room. "Who was here before me?" She thought to herself as she was cleaning up the floor of one of the rooms. "Whoever it was they didn't do a very good job of it" she mumbled to herself while picking up some jeans off of the floor.

People kept coming in and out of the fitting rooms and Kate was too busy putting things back where they belonged to notice who was going in and out. At one point all of the rooms were closed so she knocked on the doors of each one and waited for an answer. If nobody answered, she would open the door to that room so people would know it was empty. She would also take out any clothes or hangers and put them where they belonged. Well she would try to anyway. It's so hard to find where clothing goes if it gets moved around every other month.

Kate got to a point where the fitting rooms were just about empty. She knocked on every door and at one point she knocked on a door and a familiar voice said "Yes?" She told him "Sir. We're closing soon. You should head towards the register."

"Okay" was the only answer she got.

A Few Minutes Later

"Excuse me" said the voice. The door opened and she turned around to face him.

"What do you think of this shirt?"

"Wow" she said wide-eyed.

"That good?" he chuckled.

"Oh.... Sorry.... You look good in plaid" Kate said as she smiled.

"You think so?" he replied with a crooked grin.

"Yeah. I do." She laughed.

"Hey do you think we could go get coffee? I have something I want to talk to you about."

"Let me guess.... A dream?"

"Yeah. How'd you know?" he asked confused.

Kate replied with a sigh "it's a long story."

"Well.... I got time. I'm not going anywhere."

"Well sadly you do have to go somewhere because we're closing... like... now."

"Well when do you get off work?"

"10:30"

"Great. I'll come pick you up and we can go to a little coffee shop I saw a few blocks away."

"But it'll be 10:30. That's a little late for coffee don't you think?"

"10:30 is really like 7:30 for me."

"Oh.... right... duh." Kate laughed at her stupidity.

He laughed. "So I'll see ya then?"

"Yeah... You will."

"Good." He smiled. "See ya later!"

"See ya later!"

"Woah... Deja Vu" Kate thought to herself as she cleaned up the store with a smile.
