Fate (Rhett and Link fanfic)

Her summer

A few months have passed for Kate. It is now the beginning of the summer. School is done and she still works at the same store. She still dreams of going to California. She can't go this year because she has no one to go with and her parents said she can't go unless she has someone to go with. She wasn't happy about it.They said she was too young to go across the country on her own. They were probably right but she still wanted to go. She still watches GMM and obsesses over Link pretty much every episode. She hasn't been dreaming about him lately which she isn't sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

​Today she decides to hang out with her cousin Joe. Joe and her talk about a lot of different things. Things like school, jobs, relationships, etc. At one point he and she swap phones to look at something on the other's phone. He accidentally locks her phone and she goes to unlock it. As she goes to unlock it, he sees a picture of Link on it. It's a screenshot of Link on the green rug from the thoughtful guy music video.

Joe asked Kate who that was and she simply said "a YouTuber." He thought that was a little weird. She then showed him her mug and laptop and he laughed at her. "You're obsessed" he said. She said "Joe, you don't even know the half of it."

​She then went on to explain what she meant and told Joe basically everything that happened with Link. This included both shifts at work that he showed up, coffee, and the kiss. Joe just stared at her with his mouth open. He didn't know what to say. After about 15 minutes of catching flies, Kate had to snap him out of it, literally.

Once she did, she asked him what he thought she should do. He told her basically the same thing that Emily told her. So now hearing it from not one, but two different mouths she decided to just let everything that happened with Link go.
