Fate (Rhett and Link fanfic)

First date

Link then stops at a park close by. He gets out and then helps Kate out. She thanks him and then he gets a picnic basket and a blanket out of the trunk. He sets everything up and then they sit down and have a nice little picnic.

A few sandwiches, a bag of chips, and some drinks were in the basket. It was nice. Once they were done eating Link pulls out a ball from the basket and they have a little catch. Link threw the ball to Kate one time and then she ran. He ran behind her and was catching up fairly quickly. She sees him catching up but keeps running.

Kate is immediately tackled by Link as soon as she faces the direction she is running in and lands on her back. She closes her eyes once she hits the ground. When she opens her eyes she sees two ocean blue eyes surrounded by ombré glasses hovering over her. Kate smiles and so does the face that the eyes belong to. She takes the glasses off and puts them on her face.

"How do I look?" She asked Link. "Really cute. Now can I have my glasses back please?" Link asked her. "Maybe..... You need to pay a price first Mr. Neal" she said and smirked. "And what would that price be?" "One ki..." But before she could finish Link's lips were pressed up against hers.

She was so surprised that she forgot to breathe. It was like he was reading her mind. That was all she wanted to do that whole day. Once she finally remembered to exhale, she immediately snaked her arms around his next and pulled him in harder for a more passionate kiss (if that was even possible).

Link then rolled onto his back out of breath from chasing Kate (and the kiss). Kate then rolled over so that she was on her side. She was looking at him and thinking "I can't believe this is real." She didn't realize that she actually said it out loud. "What was that?" Link asked her. He didn't hear what she said because she said it so softly. "Oh nothing. I was just thinking bout about something" she replied. "And what was that?" Link asked curiously.

Kate replied "I just can't believe this is real. I feel like I'm dreaming." "If anybody feels like they're dreaming it's me. Because now I'm living the dream that I had about you when I first met you. Except this is a whole lot better" Link said. "And why's that?" Kate asked.

"Because it's real. I can do this and be aware of what I'm doing.... And like it" Link said as he winked at Kate. He then pulled her on top of him. He kissed her. It was amazing. Since the beginning of time and the invention of the kiss, there have only been 5 kisses that were rated the most passionate and most pure. This one left them all behind.

She was surprised when he did this but she loved it so there was no reason to complain. Kate never wanted it to end. However, she knew it would have to if they were ever going to get back to their blanket. So they sat in the grass for a while and looked at the clouds. It was a beautiful summer day and definitely one they enjoyed.

A little while later they headed back to their blanket and lay down. Link wraps one of his arms around Kate's shoulders and she rests her head on his chest. He then gently runs his fingers through her hair and starts to hum a little song. Kate sighs and drifts off to sleep while listening to Link hum.

Link looks at Kate sleeping on him and he smiles. He then kisses her forehead and whispers "sweet dreams." She smiles in her sleep and burrows her head into his chest. He then closes his eyes, holds her close and thinks to himself "that's it. I know I made the right choice. I love her."

A few hours later Kate wakes up. She opens her eyes and slowly becomes aware of her surroundings. She sees that she is on a blanket laying down in the arms of a familiar face. She then remembers everything that she thought was a dream. Link opens his eyes and says "morning sleeping beauty" and smiles.

"What time is it?" She asks him after a yawn. "It is just about 6:00 pm" he replies. "It's a good thing I'm not working tonight" Kate says. " Hey, do you wanna come over to my house for dinner? I'm sure my parents would love to know more about you. I also think it would be funny to see their reaction when they find out that the man that's in their house is actually an internet celeb." "Yeah. sure" Link said. "I'd love to." and so they get back in Link's car and head back to her house.
