Fate (Rhett and Link fanfic)

Problems

This past summer was amazing for both Kate and Link. A few months have passed by and everything in their relationship is perfect. Well... almost everything. Link is having issues with the commute.

He doesn't like going back and forth between New York and Los Angeles. He loves that he gets to see his girl but he doesn't like the wasted time traveling. He had so many other things he could be doing in the time it takes him to travel to Kate and back. He could be filming GMM or coming up with ideas for music videos or sketches with Rhett. Instead he's on a plane for up to six hours both ways and it gets annoying after a while.

But he does it because he loves Kate and he loves to see her smile whenever she sees him. He loves to make her laugh when he makes a stupid face or talks in one of his wacky voices. When she laughs he laughs and it's just a vicious cycle of laughter.

He had an idea. He thought since they're so far apart she could move in with him. The next time he saw her would be this weekend and he had to bring it up sooner rather than later.

L: "Hey Kate so there's something I want to talk to you about."

K: "Ummmm.... Ok Link what's up?"

L: "I am having a hard time commuting back and forth from here to LA. I love you and I love seeing you it's just I could be doing so many other things in the time it takes to travel and see you."

K: "What're you saying?" As she starts to tear up.

L: "There's no need to get upset here love, I have a plan."

K: "What is it?"

L: "I would like it if you would move in with me. Back in LA."

K: "What? I-I don't know if I can do that."

L: "W-Why not?"

K: "Why? Because I have my whole life here Link! I have my family and friends and a job here. I can't just pack up and leave everything to go move in with my boyfriend! At least not yet."

L: "Well you could get a new job in Los Angeles."

K: "I don't know if I want a new job. I literally just got this job last year. I can't quit yet. And besides I don't know if I'm ready for everything to move so fast."

L: "Well then when will you be ready?"

K: "I don't know yet. I need time to figure this out."

L: "Well fine! Call me when you 'figure things out.' I'll be waiting."

With that Link leaves and Kate starts to sob. She cries for a little while. She then realizes that she can't make this big of a decision on her own. So she thinks about who she can call. Kate then realizes the only person she really can talk to about this is her mom.

Kate decides to call her mom the next day. She tells her mom everything. When she's done saying everything that she has to say, her mom says "Kate, I know you love him and this is all a big change but if you want to do it then I'm not stopping you. It's your life. Your father and I have said this to you over and over."

"I know mom. I just don't know what i'm going to do about my job."

"I'm sure you can get another job out in LA. Right?"

"That's true. I could probably get the same job that I have now."

"Exactly! I knew you would figure it all out."

"Thanks mom. You've been a big help. Now all I have to do is tell Link about my decision."
