Fate (Rhett and Link fanfic)

Coffee

Link stops the car at a small coffee shop and they get out and go in. Kate and Link get their drinks and sit at a table. He starts to tell her about the dream he had the other night.

He starts by telling her about being in a park on a lunch date. He then said that he thought it was with his wife but it was really with her (Kate). He then said that two of them kissed. She looked at him; surprised at this point. He then told her that the only words that he remembers saying from the dream are "I don't know what to tell my wife. I think I'm in love with you."

Now Kate is a little bit shocked at this point. She can't quite process everything that Link said and just stared at him for a good 5 minutes before he snapped her out of it. He then tells her that because of this dream he doesn't know what he actually feels. He doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know what she thinks and asks her what her thoughts on the subject were.

She had no freaking clue what to tell him because automatically she said in her head "I love you Link." She knew she could never really say that to him. She really wanted to though. She knew that he already knew that she was obsessed with him so she thought it wasn't that big of a difference. She had all of these thoughts going in her brain until something stopped them.

Kate's thoughts were immediately interrupted by the force of Link's lips on hers. He was kissing her. She couldn't think about anything. Not even what was going on. This is everything she ever dreamed about. His soft lips on hers. His hands gently cupping her face. The taste of peanut butter and peppermint on his lips. She felt like she was melting into him every second the kiss lasted.

It didn't feel real to her. She just got lost in that moment. It was beautiful. It seemed to go on forever. She didn't want it to stop. It seemed a little like Déjà vu because of what her actual dream was a week ago.

Once Link stopped she asked him "am I dreaming?" He replied with "nope. That just happened." Link then thought to himself "What did I just do?" "I-I gotta take you home" Link said to Kate. "Ok Link" was her reply.

They then got back in his car and drove off. She gave him directions to her house and then she got out. As she was opening the door to get out she said "Thanks for the coffee Link" and wrote her number on his hand.

"Why did I just do that?" she thought to herself. They said goodbye and then before she got out he kissed her cheek. "Why did I do that?" he asked himself as he was driving away. All he had was the leftover feeling of a kiss full of love for him and a phone number on his hand. "At least I have her number" he thought to himself. When he got back to his hotel room he put her number in his phone and then went to bed.
