Sky’s POV

I didn’t want any of this anymore, I needed to know, I needed to know what that slip of paper said. I ran into Dylan’s room, he was laying on his bed. I jumped on him so I was straddling his stomach. He said, “What are you doing?” and laughed. I pinned his hands beside his head. “Tell me.” His smile disappeared. He shook his head, “No way.” I said, “Please. Dylan. I need to know. I’ve been having bad thoughts.” He took me by the waist and moved me next to him on the bed, I guess I wasn’t as heavy as I thought. He said, “Like what?” I said, “I’m not afraid to die. I kind of want it to happen, just to get it over with. I’m tired of waiting. And that’s terrible.” He said, “But you would never try anything right?” I tilted my head, “I don’t know Dyl. Please just tell me.” He said, “Just wait one more week.” I yelled, “I have one week left and you didn’t want to tell me?” He said, “No! No, wait a week for me to tell you. You have longer than you think.” I said, “Fine, one week, then you have to tell me.”

Ross's POV

I picked up Sky for school. I wanted to make sure she went to school. I just had to stay with her so no one would mess with her. When we got there I followed her down the hallway. I walked right next to her. Then some guy said, "Ross, you'd better not stand too close to her, you might be next." I said, "Shut up." And kept walking. Then a group of girls walked in front of us, one of them said, "You got my boyfriend killed." She was crying. Sky said, "Was he Tanner or Carter?" The girl said, "Tanner. And he's dead because of you bitch! And I will make sure you feel the same pain he did!" Then she slapped Sky in the face. Sky grabbed my wrist behind her. She didn't want me to do anything. Then she pulled me past the girls and then dropped my wrist and went into our first class. Our teacher said, "Okay class, I know everyone is upset because Skylar got two of our students killed but we need to focus on our work. Finals are just around the corner." I said, "Excuse me, that was rude and wrong. Tanner and Carter did not get killed because of Sky." Sky stopped me before I could say anything else, she put her hand on my hand and said, "Ross, just, stop." As class went on I saw people ball up things and throw them at Sky. All she did was read some notebook. It looked familiar. I leaned over, "Is that Charlie's notebook?" She nodded, "It's full of songs and poems. But there's so many pages it'll take me about a month to finish it all." I said, "Are they good?" She said, "They're amazing. So much better than the crap I write." I said, "That can't be true, I love your poetry." She looked up at me and smiled, but it soon disappeared as a big ball of paper was thrown at her. The next day when I went to pick her up she wasn't outside. She always waited on her doorstep for me to pick her up in the morning. I got out of my car and went inside. Dylan was the first person I saw, I said, "Where's Sky?" He said, "Picking up broken glass. Someone threw a brick through her bedroom window." I walked into Sky's room. She was bent over the floor putting bits of glass into her garbage can. She didn't see me yet. She picked up a shard of glass and stared at it. I saw a tear fall from her eye. Then instead of putting the shard of glass in the garbage, she put it on her bedside table. Then continued picking up the glass, I went over and helped her, she wiped her tears away and straightened herself out, noticing I was there, "Um, what are you doing here?" I could tell she was crying much more than when I came in. I said, "Im here to take you to school." She said, "I don't want to go to school today." I said, "Sky, are you okay?" She said, "Stop asking me if I'm okay, Im tired of lying and saying I'm okay. People hate me. So much that they tried to burn my house down." She pointed at a black towel thing on the other side of the room, I said, "What is that?" She said, "It was a brick, wrapped in a towel that had been soaked in gasoline and set on fire." The floor around the brick was charred. She said, "Im just lucky I haven't slept in three  days or I might have not seen it." I said, "Please, stay at my house, just for a couple of days. Until this all goes away." She said, "Ross, go open my closet." I said, "Why?" She said, "Just, open it." I stood up and walked over. When I opened it, it was empty. "Where's your stuff?" She said, "Dylan's helping me move back to my old room at the orphanage." I said, "No, you can't go back there." She said, "It's better this way." I said, "You still have to go to school." She said, "But there's a school down the street over there, I can just go there." I said, "Sky don't do this." She said, "I don't have any other choice." I said, "Don't do this Sky." She said, "Charlotte wants to really hurt me. Charlotte must be Tanners girlfriend who threatened her. I said, "I can talk to her." She said, "No, Ross, I don't need you to help me." I said, "Please Sky." She said, "The school year is almost over, I'll see you everyday after school. And once schools done, it'll be the same as usual, I'll just be somewhere else." I said, "It's only two weeks. I'll stay over to make sure you're okay." She said, "Whats the point?" I said, "You shouldn't have to deal with this. It wasn't your fault." She said, "They tried to help us get out of there. They really didn't want to be a part of that. What happened to them was because of me." I said, "Sky, that's not true." She said, "Yes Ross, it is." I said, "Go to school today, then after school let me sleep over. I won't let anyone hurt you." She said, "Ross you don't have to do that, just let me go." I said, "Sky, this isn't okay. I can't let it go, I can't let you go." She said, "Fine, I will go to school today, and you can sleep over." She got ready and we drove in late for school. We snuck into our second period and someone balled up a piece of paper, I shot him a look and whispered, "You throw that and I will beat the shit out of you." He dropped the paper on the floor and sunk down in his chair. Everyone seemed to hear me, because no one threw anything. Through the hallway everyone who tried to push her around and yell things at her I gave dirty looks and they stopped. Then Charlotte and her gang of other preppy girls walked up, I stepped in front of Sky. Charlotte looked past me at Sky, "Did you get my present?" Sky said, "Yeah, and you better hope I don't regift it." Charlotte said, "Oh, is that a threat?" Sky said, "No, it's just letting you know that I can take anything you throw at me, but the more you do, the more I will give back. Just know that." She walked right through their pack and Charlotte looked scared. I caught up to Sky and said, "You really aren't going to fight back, right?" She said, "No, of course not. You know I don't do violence. I'm just scaring her." I nodded, "Oh, ok." We went through the rest of the day. No one messed with Sky. I said, "What if she does something else though?" Sky said, "I've got an idea, but its only for if I have to." I said, "What is it?" She said, "You'll see, if I have to." I nodded, "Alright." After school we went to Sky's house. I had always kept an overnight bag at Sky's house. I took a shower and put on some boxers and basketball shorts. We both slept in Sky's room, and we both slept in her bed. At about three in the morning I rolled over, I was awake because I was scared. I heard laughing. Sky taped a black trash bag over her window for until she could get it fixed. I was curious to what the laughing was. I stood up and walked over to the window and peeled back a corner of the bag. It was Charlotte and her gang. They had fireworks and they threw them straight through the plastic bag. I jumped back into bed and covered Sky. She woke up and when the first firework went off in her room she clung to me. About twenty fireworks later, they stopped. I got up out of bed and looked out the window, they were gone. I looked at the floor, covered in soot and bits of broken glass. They put broken glass in the fireworks! So when they exploded the glass went everywhere. There were bits of glass in the walls, the ceiling, even the bedposts. I heard Sky sat my name, I turned around she said, "Oh my gosh." I said, "What?" She said, "Come with me." She led me to the kitchen counter and made me sit on one of the stools. She turned me around so my back was to her, she took a picture with her phone and showed me, there were peices of glass sticking out of my back.
