Sky's POV
I ran into my bathroom and grabbed my tweezers. I ran back put to the counter where Ross was sitting. And I slowly took all of the glass out of his back. I asked, "How did you not notice this, didn't it hurt?" He said, "No, I was kind of in shock at first, but now, it really hurts." Once I got all of the glass out I took a wet rag and dabbed all of the blood off of his back. Then once it all stopped bleeding I put antibiotic gel on his back to stop the pain. Then I made him sleep on his stomach, I laid down next to him. He looked at me, "So, what's your plan?" I said, "Tomorrow, I need Riker to give me a ride before school." He said, "Why?" I said, "You'll see." Then he went back to sleep and I looked at his back. That bitch is going down. The next morning, I helped Ross up and we washed his back and his little wounds, they had gotten a little better overnight, so, he would be fine. I had to help him put his shirt on though, and tie his shoes because he couldn't bend over. Then I texted Riker to pick me up. He said okay and we all got in the car. Dropped Ross off at school, then I asked Riker to drive to the gas station. I handed Riker some money when we got there, he said, "What do you need me to do?" I said, "Go in and buy a pack of cigarettes." He said, "Why?" I said, "Don't worry they're not for me." He said, "Okay." And got them. Then we rode to school. I walked towards my class, passing Charlotte at her locker, but as I was passing by, I slipped the cigarettes into her bag. Then I went to the principal’s office. I told him that I was scared of my friend Charlotte getting lung cancer from smoking at school. He said he would take care of it and he was proud of me for coming to him. I left that office with a smile on my face. I walked by Charlotte again and said, "Did you get my present?" She said, "What? No, you didn't get me." I said, "Regift." And walked away as the principal walked towards her. At the doorway to my classroom as the bell rang, I watched. The principal started lecturing her and then asked to see her bag. She let him see it because she didn't know that I slipped in the cigarettes. She got in so much trouble and she was suspended. She was going to miss all of her finals and she wouldn't be able to make them up, so she would get held back, again. This was her second year in this grade. I just did it again for her. Then I went into class. Ross smiled at me, "Perfect." He said. We did a fist bump and then went the rest of the day just fine. After school I moved all my stuff back and fixed my window. Ross stayed over again to make sure there was no more issues with Charlotte. There was only one thing I regretted. The shard of glass that sat in my bedside table drawer. I cut my wrist before when everything was bad. I don't know what happened to me, but it just happened. I took the glass and chucked it in the garbage. I covered the scars that were on my wrist with a bunch of my leather bracelets. At night, Ross wrapped his arms around me and I held them there. The next day I went over to the supermarket and bought some flowers. It was Saturday. I went to Charlottes house and rang the doorbell. Charlottes dad opened the door. He said, “Hello, how can I help you?” I handed him the flowers, “Can you give those to Charlotte, they’re to say I’m sorry.” He said, “For what?” I said, “She’ll know.” He nodded and I walked away.
Ross’s POV
The next day, “Hey, freak.” He said, hitting Sky against the lockers. Everyone surrounded them. Sky kept her head down, “Please, just, let me go.” She tried to walk away but he grabbed her and slammed her again against the lockers. I yelled out, “Hey!” and ran into the circle, I stood between the two of them. He said, “And who are you?” I said, “Leave her alone.” I said it as threatening as I could. He just laughed, then stopped and shot me a look, “So, you’re her body guard?” Sky said, “Ross, don’t.” I said, “No, but I am her friend and I won’t let you treat her like this.” He said, “You wanna start a fight? You won’t get to take your finals.” I said, “I’m not going to fight you. Who are you anyways?” He said, “Josh. I’m Charlotte’s big brother. That piece of shit behind you got her suspended. She can’t graduate.” I said, “Charlotte threw a burning brick through her window. She deserved it.” He looked at Sky and said, “Trust me, high school will be the worst thing in your life until you graduate, and I will make sure of that.” I took Sky’s hand and pulled her out of the crowd and walked her to class.
The Next Day…
Ross's POV
I leaned over to the kid who sat behind Sky's empty seat. I said, "Hey, do you know where Sky went?" He said, "Who?" I said, "The girl who sat in front of you." He said, "Oh, her. She gave me the rest of her homework for the rest of the year, and she asked me to turn it in for her. But she's gone now." I said, "What do you mean gone?" He said, "Gone, as in, she ain't comin’ back." I asked the teacher if I could I to the bathroom. I took my bag with me and ran to Sky's house. She was sitting on her living room couch. I said, "What are you doing?" She said, "Nothing, hey, why aren't you at school right now?" I said, "Why aren't you at school? I came here to see if you left, you should be in school." She said, "I got everything done, so, all I have to do is finals and then summer." I said, "What happens next year?" She said, "I don't even know where I'll be next year." I said, "So that's it, your just going to give up?" She said, "Im not giving up, I just don't want to bother with it anymore. If I can avoid the torment I would like to." I said, "Okay. Then, I guess I gotta go back to class. I'll see you later Sky." I went back to school and walked five minutes late into English. When my teacher asked me why I was late, I said, "The police needed me to anwser a few more questions on what happened when Sky was kidnapped." I knew it was a lie, but it was better because people would know she was a victim and they were treating her like garbage for no reason. My teacher took it and I sat down next to Riker. He leaned over and said, "Why didn't they ask me any questions?" I said, "Because no one even asked me any questions. I went to see what was up with Sky." He said, "Oh, how's she doing?" I said, "Shes okay, but we still need to do something to cheer her up." He said, "Don't worry, I've got just the thing." The rest of the week went by, I still didn't know what Riker meant. Then once school ended Sky perked up and everything was okay. Finals were fine, Sky showed up for those and no one dared to mess with her because they saw the looks I have them.
