The next day…
Sky’s POV
I went to school the next day. More hate. Even from my teachers. At lunch an entire table threw trash at me and called me fat. I don’t know why, but it actually hurt. I put my hand on my stomach. It was solid. But I believed them for a second. I took my entire lunch tray and dumped it in the trash as I was walking by it. Then I saw that Ross was staring at me from our lunch spot, he saw it all. I adjusted my backpack strap on my shoulder and quickly walked away. In our next class he sat next to me. He said, “Sky, you’re not fat.” I said, “I know, I just wasn’t hungry.” I lied. I was starving right now. He said, “Please don’t listen to them.” I said, “Ross, I’m sorry I yelled at you yesterday. I was just mad and I acted stupid.” He laughed, “Sky, it’s okay. You had a right to be mad at me. I just don’t want to see you crumble because of what some other jerks say.” I said, “No, Ross, you have been there trying to help me this entire time, but all I do is push you away. You, Riker, Rocky, your whole family, everyone I know. I push everyone away. Because, I-“ I stopped there. I couldn’t tell him. He said, “Sky, are you okay?” I said, “Yeah, I just want you to know how much I have appreciated everything you have done for me.” He gave a little unsure laugh and said, “Woah, Sky, are you leaving or something? What aren’t you telling me?” I said, “Just, don’t worry about it.” He said, “Um, okay.” After school I found a note in my locker telling me to go to the choir room. I thought it was going to be a group of mad people so, I just avoided it. I dropped the note on the floor and walked down the hallway. Then someone grabbed my arm from behind and pressed up pretty close to me, I said, “Hey!” then I saw who it was. Chase. Something was on my back, it was a gun. I said, “What do you want?” He said, “Stay quiet and come with me. I wouldn’t have to do this if you had just followed the note.”
Ross’s POV
I waited for Sky after school by her locker. We were going to give her a ride home. Riker was waiting with me, then Rocky ran over to us, he said, “I can’t find Rydel.” I said, “She’s probably just talking with some friends because she knew we’d be waiting for Sky.” Riker bent down and picked a piece of paper off of the ground. He said, “Guys, this note says, ‘Sky, go to the choir room, or else.’ Maybe Sky’s in the choir room.” I told Rocky to go find Rydel and all of them wait for us down the hall from the choir room. Riker and I ran to the choir room. When we got there the door was locked. I knocked, “Sky? Are you in there?” Then Chase’s face appeared in the little window of the door. He said, “Yeah, she’s here, but she can’t come to the door right now. She’s a little bit, preoccupied.” I said, “Let her go Chase.” And he disappeared from the glass.
Ross’s POV
I banged on the classroom door. “Chase, please let her go!” He said, “Give me one good reason not to just shoot her right now!” I said, “Because she didn’t do anything wrong!” He yelled back, “Ross, how’s your sister doing?” I said, “Good, why?” He said, “Well, she’s not doing so good right now!” I hit the door, “What did you do to her?” I yelled. He said, “Check next door!” I told Riker to stay here. I ran next door and tried the door. It was locked. I heard a scream and I yelled, “Rydel!” She yelled back, “Ross!” I said, “Who’s in there with you?” She yelled, “Connor, he has a gun!” Connor laughed and yelled, “Ross, this is all up to you, your sister or your friend!” I said, “What?” He said, “We have them both, you have to decide! Go to the library with your family, lock the doors and make sure no one else is in there and turn on web chat on one of the computers, then we can talk.” I dragged Riker to the library and got the rest of our family, along with Ratliff and Kelly. Riker locked the door and we turned on the web chat. We accepted a web chat from C&C I was just guessing it was Connor and Chase. They popped up on the screen; both of their faces were in the camera. Chase laughed and said, “Ha, the second you guys ran off Connor dragged your sister in here with me. If you guys turned around you might have actually gotten us.” I said, “What do you want?” They stepped aside, revealing Sky and Rydel sitting in two chairs, tied up. They had their mouths taped. Connor said, “You get one, we get one.” I said, “Or we get both and you both go to jail.” Chase said, “Ross, do you care about your sister?” I nodded, he said, “Then shut up.” Connor said, “You only get one, your sister or your friend. Your choice.” Chase said, “Let’s see what they think.” Connor removed the tape from Rydel’s mouth, she said, “Pick Sky, please! She’s been through too much! I know you guys will figure some way to get me back later.” They put the tape back over her mouth. Then Chase took the tape from Sky’s mouth, “No! This isn’t a game. Take your sister and go home. Forget about me, I’ll be fine.” We all looked at each other. They put the tape back. Riker said, “Rydel.” I said, “What are you doing?” He said, “Being a good brother.” Chase walked behind Rydel and untied her. She took the tape off of her mouth and held the gun at Sky. He said, “Do as I say or I shoot her. Go to the library and none of you leave until you count to three hundred. Start when you walk out the door.” Connor was doing something to Sky, he was giving her a shot, right in the neck. Then he put a black sack over her head and untied her and then handcuffed her. Then they turned off the webcam. Rydel ran into the door, “One hundred ninety seven, one hundred ninety eight.” I hugged her, “You can stop now.” When she did, she started hypervenelating. I hugged her until she stopped. Not knowing what to do, we went home and called the police. They told us that they would call us when they had something. All I wanted to have was Sky.
