Going To Be Ok

I walked with Skylar in my arms to the ambulance. I wanted to make sure she was okay. She had her arms wrapped around my neck and her head was against my chest. We had ashes all over our clothes and skin. I looked down at her and smiled. 

I handed her over to a paramedic who asked me if I was ok, I nodded and he brought her to the ambulance. I went over to my brothers, sister, and Ellington. I was attacked with hugs. 

Riker hugged me last, "I saw you run in, and I panicked. I thought you were dead!" 

I said, "I couldn't just leave Sky there, I had to go back." 

He said, "But you could've gotten hurt." 

I said, "Sky was hurt, they wouldn't have found her in time. She was buried under a pile of metal beams from the ceiling. One almost crushed her leg. If I didn't go in there, she wouldn't have come out. I had to."

I felt some arms wrap around me. I turned to see who it was. My girlfriend Alana. 

She squeezed me again, "Riker called me, he told me what happened. You were so brave! I was so worried, is your friend okay?"  

 I nodded, "Yeah, she's fine." I gave her a peck on the cheek. "I'm going to go check on her really quick, I'll be right back." Alana waved as I walked away, I smiled back at her.

I went up to the ambulance where they had Sky, "Is she okay?" I asked a paramedic. 

He wouldn't let me go inside, "She passed out, and it's probably just from the smoke. She'll be fine; we have her hooked up to a machine that will help her breathe. Her leg isn't broken but we think it might have some fractures. From the outside it's just going to leave a nasty bruise, on the inside, that must hurt like a bitch. She also has a burn on her wrist; we can't do much about but give her some painkillers and bandages. What happened?" 

I said, "There was a fire in one of the dressing rooms, my brother got stuck in there and Sky pulled him out, then she saved me, but when everyone else was out, the ceiling collapsed on her. I went back in and got her out." 

He patted my shoulder, "That was very brave of you. We're going to take her to the hospital now. Visit her in an hour or so if you want to check on her." 

I said, "Definitely." As he got into the ambulance and they drove away.
