Everything is Changing

Lunchtime

Percy, Paige, Nico, and I are on our way down to lunch. Turns out Percy, Nico, and I have every class together so far. Homeroom and SSR(Sustained Silent Reading) with Mr. Connelly, Physical Science with Mr. Swartz, Honors English with Ms. I, and finally, for before lunch, Reading with Ms. June.
"I'll be right back." Paige said. Paige is the only one who has to get a lunch because Percy, Nico, and me all packed a lunch.
           "Ok, Buddy." I said. She left to get her Uncrustable and Fruit Roll up.
           "Can I see your schedule, Nico?" I asked.
           "Sure." Nico is actually really nice when he wants to be.
            I looked at it. We have every single class together.
            "Hey, guys. Umm...we have every single class together." I told them.
            "Cool." Nico said. Told you he could be nice. I know I said he wasn't outgoing but once I got to know him he was a little outgoing. But not very outgoing.
            "Hey everybody! I'm back!" Paige said as she sat down. "I have a question for you two?" She pointed to Percy and Nico.
            "Sure. Go ahead." Percy said.
            "Why did you guys transfer here the day before school ends?" She asked.
            "Well..." Nico started, "we are homeschooled but next year we are coming here. So are parents wanted us to come and see the layout of the school before next year. So we would know where to go."
            "Cool. Maybe we'll have some classes together next year too." I said.
            "Hopefully. It would suck to make new friends and not see them. I hope we see each other over the summer too."Paige added.
            After that the conversation consisted of the basics. Like favorite color, Nico's and mine are black, Paige's is teal, Percy's is blue. Also favorite movie. Nico's is Vampire Academy, mine's Veronica Mars, Paige's is Star Wars, and Percy doesn't have one.
          "I don't really watch many movies." Percy said. His response was met with a series of frowns.
          "Expect horror movies." He added.
          After that we all got to know each other better. I learned that all of us like horror movies.
          "You know what we should do, Paige?" I asked.
          "Is it what I think it is?" Paige questioned even though she knew exactly what I was thinking.
          "Yes. And we should invite them." I said pointing to Percy and Nico.
          "We should. But when would we do it?" Paige asked.
          "I could ask my mom to do it tonight and you could just sleepover tonight. It's the last day of school tomorrow. I don't think your mom would mind."
          "Sure. Let me ask my mom and then we'll text your mom."
          "Sounds like a plan. Say 'If Maggie's mom let's me.' "
          "Okay. Sent." Paige confirmed the text message's journey.
          Paige and I started making plans on what we would do if my mom approved of the plan we had for tonight. We did it pretty often. She usually says yes. Percy and Nico sat there confused. Then Paige's phone went off.
          "She said if your mom let's us do it then yes. But she needs a text from your mom saying it's okay that I sleepover." Paige said.
          "Okay. Time for my mom." I said as I typed the message, Paige looking over my shoulder. With a nod of approval from Paige I sent the text.
          "How strict are your parents?" I asked Nico and Percy.
          "Not very strict." Both of them said at the same time.
          "Good." I said as my phone went off.
          "She said sure. And she already sent the text to your mom." Just then Paige's phone went off.
          "My mom asked if I'm coming home or going straight to your house." Paige said.
          "Do you want to just borrow some of my clothes so we can go straight to my house and to the playground to start planning?"
         "Yeah." She replied.
         "Okay. Tell your mom the plan and tell her I said hi." I told Paige.
         After a minute Paige said,"Done." We sat there for another minute before Nico spoke.
         "What are you guys planning?"
         "How would you two feel about coming over to my house tonight to watch a horror movie." I asked them waiting for a response or reaction.
         "That sounds cool. We're in!" Nico said. Percy nodded approvingly.
         "Okay. Great. Here's my address. Come around 5:45."  I said handing them a piece of paper.
         "We call it 'Horror Extravaganza'!" Paige said.
          "Who came up that?" Nico asked.
          "Maggie did." Paige told him. It's true. We did it so often now that we had to give it a name. And either the fact I came up with it or the name I came up with almost got Nico to smile.
          "Should we bring anything?" Percy asked.
          "Yourselves. And anything you might want. We usually have snacks." I replied. Just then the bell rang.
          "Come on Nico and Percy time for history with Mr. Connelly." I said. We walked together to Mr. Connelly's room. What I wasn't looking forward to was the Prep that would probably be all over them when we get there. I'm scared I might lose Percy and Nico to her. It wouldn't be the first time. Certainly will not be the last.
             "Maggie, are you okay?" Nico asked.
             "Yeah. Why?" I answered.
             "You look sick." He remarked.
             "Just worried."
             "About what?" He asked.
             "The Prep who might try to steal you guys away from me. And tell you bad things about me." I told him.
             "That won't happen."
             "It did before."  I said.
             "Well I'll stand by you no matter what." He said
             "Me too." Percy said.
             "Okay. Thanks." Nico and Percy were amazing friends. I really hope they can withstand the Queen Prep though. The leader of them all. No one expect me and Paige can. If they don't give in to the gossip, rumors, and lies then they are definitely amazing. I stopped at my locker to grab my headphones. Then Percy, Nico, and I prepared to enter the Lions' den.
