When Percy and I got up to the deck, I looked up to the mast. Sure enough Nico was there hiding.
"Hey, Percy. Is there a way up to the mast?" I asked.
"Yeah. A ladder." He answered.
"Would you and Leo mind if I go up there and talk to Nico?" I asked Percy to make sure it was okay.
"Of course not. Have fun." Percy said waving towards the mast.
I climbed up to the mast where Nico was sitting.
"Hey." I said.
"Ahhh...", he said almost falling off. I grabbed his arm."You scared me." He yelled.
"No kidding. I'm sorry I scared you."
"It's okay. Now what do you want?" He asked looking annoyed.
"I wanted to hang out." I said. "Can we?"
"Sure." Nico said.
We hung out and talked. We talked about basic stuff. Then we talk about something important.
"Can I ask you something Nico?" I said. After a moment of hesitation he nodded.
"Why don't you talk with other people?" It took awhile but he finally started talking.
"I'm worried they won't like me," he said, "I can't even tell my crush I like her."
"Who's your crush?" I asked.
"I'm not telling you. She'll be the first to know." He said being stubborn.
After a moment of think I gave up trying to guess.
"Just swear on the River Styx you will tell her by the end of first watch tomorrow." I made him promise.
"Fine. I swear on the River Styx." He said.
When first watch was over and Leo had called up I had to go back down the ladder.
"Here comes the fun part." I whispered sarcastically.
"Wait. You're afraid of heights?" He asked. I nodded.
"Do you want a ride down?"
"Yes, please." I said.
He grabbed my hand and ran towards the mast. I closed my eyes thinking he was trying to kill us. When we stopped I opened my eyes and we were on the deck.
"How?" I asked stunned.
"Shadow travel." He said. My stomach decided to reply.
"Did you eat at dinner?" He asked looking concerned.
"No." I replied.
"I'll take you down to the dining hall." He offered.
"Okay. Thanks. But can we stop by my room first for a blanket? I'm cold."
"Sure." He replied.
When we got to my room I grabbed two blankets just in case.
He lead me to the dining hall. When we got inside he closed the doors and told me to take a seat. He grabbed two of the plates.
"Think of what you want to eat." He said.
I closed my eyes and did exactly what he said to do. When I opened my eyes I saw what I was thinking about. Homemade pizza and fries with a soda. The thing was the soda was purple. It was unbelievable.
"So do you like it here so far?" He asked while eating his spaghetti.
"Yeah... its kind of strange and shocking. It will take a little to adjust but I think I'll like it here." I paused. "Just need to make a few friends."
"Well...you have at least six friends." He said trying to be positive.
"Thank you." I said.
After that we sat and talked until two in the morning. Which was about three hours I learned so much about Nico. It was amazing.
"It's cold in here." He said. Visibly shivering.
"Here have a blanket." I handed him one.
"No." He said.
"Take it!" I said throwing it at him.
"Fine. Thank you." He said.
"So who's dating who?" I asked.
"Hazel and Frank, Percy is dating a girl named Jasmine at camp, and Rhaeghan and Leo. But Rhaeghan just started dating Leo a few weeks ago." He said.
"This is different from the books then." I said.
"Yeah, but we are real. The books are how the author writes not the way we live our lives."
"That's amazing." I said. After that we talked until three in the morning.
"Maggie, I need to tell you something..." Nico said seriously.
