Everything is Changing

The Playground

"Hey!"Paige said as she walked up to my locker."Ready to go?"
"Yeah..." I said as I shut my locker."Let's go!"
With that we went to the bus. And walked right on. Our bus drivers were so used to us going on each other's buses that they didn't even question it anymore.
"Okay. So I was thinking that we drop our stuff off at my house,get changed and then go to the playground." I suggested.
"Sounds like a plan." She said.
Within ten minutes we were at my house. We went in, got changed, and checked in with my mom.
"Alright. Have fun and be careful at the playground!" She yelled as we went out the door.
I went over to the bench on my porch and opened it. I looked inside.
"Basketball, volleyball, soccer ball, or kickball." I asked.
"Volleyball. So that way it's just us." She said.
"Good idea!" I said walking off my porch.
We started walking to the park. It was right across the street from my house.
When we got there we started playing volleyball on one of the two basketball courts. We used the half line as the net.
"Do you think he'll show up today?" Paige asked.
"Maybe. I don't know." I said. She was referring to my friend, the boy she thinks I should date, Chris. She thinks I like him. I don't.
"Do you want to go to the swings?" I asked. After playing volleyball for twenty minutes the swings seem better.
"Sure." Paige said.
We went down to the swings. Paige and I talked about what we would do for tonight. What snacks? Which movie?
"The Conjuring." Paige suggested.
"What about Insidious?" I suggested at the same time.
"The Conjuring." Paige said. I agreed with her. I want to see both so I would agree to either one.
We keep planning and sitting on the swings when someone jumper cabled me.
"What the heck?" I said turning around. It was Chris. He was laughing.
"Hey, Maggie. Hey, Paige." Chris said.
"Hey." Paige said.
"That wasn't funny." I said.
"Oh come on it was kind of funny." He said.
"Okay. Fine. It was kind of funny." We all started laughing.
"Want to play volleyball with us?" Paige asked.
"Sure." He said.
We played volleyball for a half hour. Paige and I on one team. Chris on the other by himself. We kicked his butt. It was about 4:30. We were about to start when someone said my name.
"Hey Maggie!" It was Nico. I turned around.
"Oh. Hey guys! I didn't expect to see you for like another hour." I said.
"My parents had to leave early to go somewhere so they dropped us off here earlier." Percy explained.
"Okay. Do you want to join us for a game of volleyball?"
"Yeah. Sure." They said. They walked over toward us.
"Percy you are on Chris's team. Nico you are with me and Paige." I instructed.
"Am I on the winning team?" Nico asked.
"Yes. So good luck Percy." I said.
"I don't need luck, Maggie." Percy said with a wink.
"Wait until after. Paige serves first." I said.
Paige served it and Percy volleyed it back. It went on for awhile until I spiked it. No one was willing to dive on asphalt.
"That would be a point for us!" I said excitedly.
"Keep bragging Maggie and I'll wipe that smirk right off your face." Percy said in a joking tone.
After that we played for another half hour. I accidentally fell and almost hit the ground one time while playing but Nico caught me.
            "Sorry. I don't have good balance." I said while Nico had me in his arms. I was looking at his face now. I never noticed the way his eyes had an iris with a brown and black swirl. It was amazing. Percy ran over to see if I was okay.
            "I'm fine. I almost fell but lucky my friend was here to catch me." I said patting Nico on the back.
            "That's good." Percy said as he reached for my hand and helped me out of Nico's arms.
           "We should get going up to my house." I said. Then I remembered that we had to go to the mini-mart. "Actually me and Paige have to go to the mini-mart. So you guys can go to the house and wait for us. My mom knows that you are coming so she will let you in."
            "Okay. We will meet you guys up there." Percy said.
            They walked to my house and Paige and me went to the mini-mart after saying goodbye to Chris. After a ten minutes we got back to the house.
           "Took you long enough." Percy said sarcastically.
           "We got snacks. No peeking to see what we got. We have to go get changed real quick and we will be right down." I told them.
           Paige and I went upstairs to get changed. I changed into a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt with a tank top on underneath. Paige changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt with a sweatshirt. We need a sweatshirt in case it got cold even though it was a week into June. We went downstairs to get everything ready.
           "Took you two long enough." Percy jokingly said.
           "Well now we have to get everything ready too." I said.
            "Plus, dinner isn't ready yet." Paige added.
