I turned on "Single Ladies" by Beyoncé. When she said "All the single ladies, now put your hands up." I put my hands up.
"So Maggie. Now that you're single—" Aaron started to say.
"Listen buddy. She's still mine back off." Nico said. Aaron just continued to focus on the road. After a minute Nico spoke.
"That was a good break." Nico said. I put my hand back for him to hold.
"Yeah. But let's never do that again. I love you too much." I said.
"Agreed. I love you way too much to take that long of a break again." Nico said.
I turned off the song and put on "Masterpiece" by Jessie J. I started singing.
So much pressure, why so loud?
If you don't like my sound, you can turn it down
I gotta roll
And I walk it alone
Uphill battle, I look good when I climb
I'm ferocious precocious
I get braggadocios, I'm not gonna stop
I like the view from the topYou talk that
Blah blah that la la, that rah rah sh
And I'm so done, I'm so over it
Sometimes I mess up, I eff up, I hit and miss
But I'm okay, I'm cool with itI still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can't color inside the lines 'cause
I'm perfectly incomplete
I'm still working on my masterpiece and I wanna hang with the greatest gotta
Way to go, but it's worth the wait, no
You haven't seen the best of me
I'm still working on my masterpieceThose who mind, don't matter
Those who matter, don't mind
If you don't catch what I'm throwing then I leave you behind
Don't need a flash
And I am leaving like thatThey talk that
Blah blah that la la, that rah rah sh
Go with the punches, and take the hits
Sometimes I mess up, I eff up, I swing and miss
But it's okay, I'm cool with thisI still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can't color inside the lines 'cause
I'm perfectly incomplete
I'm still working on my masterpiece and I wanna hang with the greatest gotta way to go, but it's worth the wait No you haven't seen the best of me
I'm still working on my masterpieceI still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can't color inside the lines 'cause
I'm perfectly incomplete
I'm still working on my masterpiece
Masterpiece, masterpieceI still fall on my face sometimes and I
Can't color inside the lines 'cause
I'm perfectly incomplete
I'm still working on my masterpieceI wanna hang with the greatest gotta
Way to go, but it's worth the wait, no
You haven't seen the best of me
I'm still working on my masterpiece
Still workin' on my masterpiece"You sounded nice, doll." Nico said. I turned down the music, turned back and looked at him.
"No. Just no." I said. I turned back around.
"Fair enough. What about Flower?" He asked. I turned around again.
"Are you saying I'm fragile?" I asked. I gave him the death glare.
"Okay. Bad nickname. What about Cinderella?" He asked, immediately regretting it.
"Are you saying that I'm clumsy?" I asked.
"No. Not at all. What about Cuddles?" Nico asked.
"I actually like that one. But it only works if we are cuddling." I said. "So what else do you have?"
"Here's one you will like. How about Sunshine?" He asked hopeful.
"I like it. How did you think of it?" I asked, curious how he thought of it.
"Well you were my light in the dark. You lead me out of the dark. You brightened my life and have everyday since we meet." He kissed my hand.
"Thank you Nico!" I couldn't believe I got someone so sweet and caring. "My turn to give you a pet name."
"Okay. Go ahead." Nico said, happily.
"How about Pumpkin?" I asked. I already knew the answer. I just had to ask.
"How about no?" He said.
"Okay. What about Mi Amor?" I asked.
"Spanish?" He asked.
"Yep. It means 'my love'." I explained.
"I love it." He said.
"Not to interrupt your special moment..." Aaron started to say.
"Too late." Nico said.
"Alright. Well we are stopping at this gas station over here." He pointed to the Sheetz. "So if you want food go get it. I'm going to get gas."
"Okay. Come on Nico." Nico got out and I grabbed his hand.
"So how much money do we have?" I asked.
"About three-hundred dollars. Chiron planned on us being out for about four days." Nico explained.
"Okay. Follow me!" I grabbed his hand.
We went to the chip aisle first. We grabbed a big bag of regular chips and a big bag of barbecue chips. Then we headed to the candy aisle. There we grabbed two bags of Skittles, a bag of M&M's, a bag of York peppermint patties, and three Twix bars. After that we went to the fridge. I grabbed two Pepsi bottles, two Coke bottles, and two bottles of iced tea. We went up to the counter and paid. We went back outside to find Aaron waiting in a parking space.
"Can I sit in the back with you?" I asked.
"Of course you can, Sunshine." He said. We jumped in the back seat of the car. I sat in the middle seat.
"Thank you, Mi Amor." I grabbed one of the Coke bottles and the bag of M&M's and handed them to Aaron.
"Thanks Love." Aaron said. He started the car. I turned and saw Nico about to rip someone's head off. I leaned close to his ear.
"Don't kill him." I whispered.
"Why not?" He whispered back, still looking furious.
"Because...we can't be together if you're in prison." I explained.
"That's true." His face softened and he turned towards me. He put his arm around my shoulders.
I grabbed the aux cord and plugged my phone back in. I went through my playlist. I was getting sleepy. I chose "Reflection" by Fifth Harmony. I put my phone on the middle console. My eyes were feeling heavy. I fell asleep in Nico's arms.
