Paige and I made more preparations. I started making the cookies for later. Paige got the candy into bowls. We had M&M's, Skittles, Cherry Sours, miniature Twix, miniature Hershey bars, York Peppermint patties, and the most important candy of all Cookie Dough Bites, the ultimate theater candy. Then we made the mystery bowl, a mix of M&M's and Skittles.
When the cookies were done me and Paige tried two of them. Quality control. Plus, there were still 20 cookies left. That means four for each of us because the parents require a tax for being put upstairs for the night instead of downstairs.
"Okay. Everything is ready except dinner. My mom is making hot dogs, burgers, and baked potatoes." I announced to everyone.
"That sounds amazing." Percy said.
"Do you have sour cream?" Paige asked. Which was followed by a "Oh yeah!" from Percy.
"Why would I... not have sour cream?" I asked.
"Maggie you are the best." Percy said.
"What time do your parents want you back home?" I asked to see how soon we had to start the movie.
"9:30. Nico's sleeping over at my house." Percy answered.
"Okay. So we have to start at 7:30 at the least. It's about six so you can hang out on the porch or in here for a little. Paige and I will be out on the porch." I told both of them.
"Okay. We will stay in here." Percy said.
Paige and I walked out on the porch. We sat there just talking for fifteen minutes.
"Percy seems to like you." Paige said.
"And I don't like him." I said.
"Oh. Come on." She said.
"No. If anything I prefer Nico but I don't like either of them." I said.
I wouldn't let her start that conversation up again. So we sat and talked for about ten minutes. Then my mom called us in because the food was done.
"Why don't you go out back and eat?" My mom said.
"Okay." I replied. "Thank you for dinner!"
We grabbed our food and drinks then went outside. In the backyard was the fire pit and it was lit. It was so pretty and there were four chairs surrounding it. It was beautiful with sparks flying into the air looking like little fireflies in the sky. We sat there for a half hour eating our food. I keeping looking up at Nico. I don't know why but every time I was met with his dark brown eyes looking back at me. Only for a second though because he would look away as if he wasn't looking at me.
After dinner we sat down and started watching the Conjuring. I was on the love seat by myself because I wanted to put my feet up and Paige was in between Percy and Nico on the sofa.
It was actually kind of scary to me but everyone else made comments, except Nico, when I hid behind my blanket. By the end of the movie I was behind the cover every three minutes. Afterwards when we were saying goodbye to Percy and Nico, Nico pulled me aside to talk to me real quick.
"Maggie, I have a question." He said.
"Sure Nico. Ummm... what's your question?" I asked.
"Can I borrow a book?" He asked.
"Sure. Just go pick one." I said.
"Thanks." After five minutes he came back down.
"I'm sorry I took so long." He said.
"It's okay. I'll see you later Nico." I say.
With that Percy and Nico left and me and Paige went to bed.
