I jumped down, safely landing on my feet. I picked up a piece of a pipe, figuring it would be stronger than the wood. As soon as I turned the corner I saw a runner twitching a couple yards away. I crouched down, sneaking up on him. I didn't have the luck to use the pipe, knowing it would make too much sound, so instead I just strangled it. I walked up to the wall and put my ear to it, I could hear at least three infected, and I was more than sure that one of them was a clicker.
I decided to turn around and find another way to kill them, knowing that with them all in a group, they could kill me straight away. I saw another up ahead as I slowly walked down the hall, luckily it's back was turned, letting me hide behind a desk, to figure out how to kill it. The runner moved into a different room, so I followed it and strangled it to death. I listened to the infected, I could still hear a clicker, so I decided to make a shiv, knowing that was the best, and quickest way to kill it. I walked back into the room which I had just killed a runner in and threw a bottle so that it smashed in the hallway.
One of the other runners had come to investigate the sound, and when it's back was turned, I strangled it. I could see the other infected, one runner and a clicker. I could probably take the runner down, simple, but with the clicker around i'd be dead straight away. I threw a bottle in front of me, hoping only one of the infected would come. The runner came, but it turned around before I could strangle it so, I had to push it to the ground and stamp on it's face.
I knew that know the clicker had heard, as it's clicking noise was loud and clear. I got my gun out, hand on the trigger, waiting for one of them to come. The clicker was the first, I aimed for it's head and shot, but of course it would take more than that as it's face is covered by a large amount of fungus which acts like another layer of protection. Overall it took three shots to the head to take out down, I looked around, waiting for more infected, but it seemed they were all gone, for now, at least.
"Alright. Come on down" I called out, reloading my gun. I saw Tess jump down first, she looked round at the damage caused, making sure there was nothing left. She whistled. "I'm impressed Joel". "Pssh" I replied.
"Let's just get outta here" I spoke whilst picking up some ammo from a dead runner. We went into the next room, it was no different to the others, furniture pilled up, rubbish on the ground, and no ammo at all. I decided to look no more and jumped up to a mound of rocks acting like a slope. I saw a door which had to be the way out, although it was blocked by a large garbage bin. I grabbed hold of the bin, pulling it up, it was more difficult seeing as the building was already crooked.
"Alright, Tess, go" I said, holding the bin so it couldn't block the door anymore. Tess opened the door and both she and Ellie went through. "Alright, hold on" She said, finding something to hold the door open for me. "Here - this'll work" She called out. "Alright. Gimme a hand, Ellie". "Yeah" Ellie replied, helping Tess push a different garbage bin to hold the door open. "Alright, that should do it".
I let go of the garbage bin and thankfully the door was still held open by the other bin.I climbed over the bin and jumped into the new room, turning my flashlight on. "See... Doin' alright..." Tess said, as she and myself picked up some rags and more alcohol. "Uh-huh" I replied.
The next hallway had another ' no wall ' and this one had another giant drop. "Whoa.." Ellie said. I decided to look down, and see what was so amazing to her, I could see ivy curling up the pillars that hold the ceiling up, and you could hear different types of birds from below. "... Down we go" Tess said. "We can get through here" I said, jumping down onto the next floor. "Watch your back". I crouched down to get past the slope you jump down off of and then jumped to the next, and then the next.
We went down a slope, and into more dark, and somewhat creepy rooms. "You know I was thinkin'... After we get back, we can take it easy for a little while" Tess said, wiping sweat from her forehead. I smirked, "You want to take it easy?". "Hey, you're the one always going on about layin' low". "And you always brushed me off" I replied as we entered more waist high water. "Well, I won't this time". "I'll believe it when I see it". We cut through around a corner where there was damp moss on the walls and floor, not forgetting a rotting skeleton. I jumped up, having to pass the skeleton and up again, water splashing on my head.
"Through here" I spoke, leading the way down a slope and to what seemed like a underground, although I wasn't sure. I picked up some more screws and bolts that were lying on a seat, and picked up some useful pills found by a telephone stand. Tess and Ellie were standing around a dead body, "Look at his sleeve. Firefly" She said. I picked up a bottle of alcohol that was next to him. "Yep. These guys aren't doin' well in or out of the city". I remembered that these alcohol bottles could be used as Molotov's, which would come in handy to kill more than one person in a group.
"Now let's hope there is someone alive to meet us at the drop off" I muttered. I kept the Molotov in hand, knowing it could take out a runner and harm a clicker. There was another dead firefly by the stairs, he had a map on him so I picked it up.
