The Last Of Us (Fan-Fic)

Summer- Chapter Two- Part 29 Escape the City

I had fallen asleep, sitting up on one of the chairs. Ellie placed her hand on my shoulder which woke me up, my eyes darted around for one second, to check that the nightmare was still there. "He says it's time to go" Ellie informs me, I nod and get out of the seat. Henry was at the other end of the room, his hand's on Sam's shoulders. "Now we're gonna be moving fast, okay" Henry tells his, "So no matter what, you stick to me like glue". "Like glue" Sam says. "Like glue".

"Got it" Sam says, "Good. Good". Me and Ellie walk over to them, "Alright, y'all ready?" He asks, "Yeah" I reply. "Okay". "Alright, y'all stay close, okay?" Henry tells the kids as he switches on his flashlight, it had quickly grew dark. "You tried this before?" I ask him as we leave the office. "Uh, yeah" Henry says, clearly lying. "That's comforting" I mumble. "Relax, old man" He comments. "I just hope you know the way". I picked up a few parts as we moved to the next room. There was a model of the bridge we needed to cross in the centre of the room, although it was dusty, it still looked brand new, un-touched. 

We climb down stairs and Henry peers out of the next door, checking to see if anyone was there. In the next room there was a man standing around a burning barrel. "Ok, let's try to take them out quietly. Hey, I'll follow your lead". As we moved closer another man joined him, "Hey... How you doing?" The first asks. "Just trying to keep warm. How's it looking out there?". "We put down some infected, but no sign of those tourists". "Think they're still in the city?". "Yeah, they're still around".

Me and Henry quickly grab one man each and strangle them to the ground. As I jump over a counter, I knock over a computers screen, luckily it doesn't make too much noise. There were a few useful supplies that I picked up like alcohol, pills and some scissors. As I come outside I see a large light, it light up everything it touched whilst the surrounding areas were very dark. "Hey, you hear that? Clicker!" A man shouts. "Yeah, I hear it, but I don't see shit!". I move over to another car, looking out for the infected myself. "Hold up! There it is! There!". I looked behind me, and then behind some barred wire there is, like they said, a clicker moving closer and closer.

There is a big gun fire, it pierced through the air once and then another was fired, hitting the clicker in the head. "Whoo! Nailed it. Did you see that shit?" The gun man shouts out. "Not bad".

I can hear more infected, but I'm not sure at all about how far away they were. All I knew was that we had to get around this, I had to get rid of all of them. I stay crouched as I move to the nearest man, although it wasn't going to be easy, I couldn't let the light touch me. Before I know it, Henry steps into the light, "Ah shit, they spotted us" He shouts. "Fine something to hide behind" I tell him.

More men came out, running in all directions, trying to find us. I aim for the light and shoot it, making the surroundings now very dark. I shoot every man who runs to me, taking cover every so often so that I don't get hit. There were more men on a ledge above me who didn't spot me yet, it was easy to take them down. More men start dropping off the ledge and others start to throw Molotov's. It was then, when I could see the man who was throwing the Molotov's, before he can throw another, I shoot him and he drops the Molotov on himself, setting him on fire. 

There is another man with a sniper, quite a way away. I bad no choice but to make a shot at him, and surprisingly I make it. "All right, we did it" Henry says, smiling, I guessed that he was pleased that he was alive. I find only one shell of ammo from all of the bodies, and that was only for my rifle. I run back to the large doors that block our way out and say, "Henry, gimme a hand with this". He puts his arms on the door, "You ready?". We start pushing the door and before it is half open we can see the headlights of the tank. "Ah shit" I say, "Hurry. C'mon". We open the door completely and let the kids go through before we slam the doors shut. Henry puts the metal lock on the door, but it probably wouldn't last for long.
