Summer- Chapter Two- Part 14 Upside Down

I went back to where there was the double trap and shot it. It exploded like it did with the clicker and cleared the gateway. "That's one way to do it" I said to myself. "Oh, shit. Those things are kinda awesome" Ellie said, seemingly amused by the explosives. We went through the gate and I picked up some ammo. "Yeah, see that?" I said, seeing another wire trap. "Get back" I told Ellie, aiming my gun at the trap. I quickly shot it and it exploded, giving out a small cloud of ash. I walked into some kind of office and looked around, "Just stay close" I told Ellie. I found a few shells for one of my guns and went through the next door. "Ellie, come on, just...".

I looked up and saw some sort of furniture being lifted, when I looked down I could see that I had stepped into some sort of trap that pulled me up by the foot and hung me upside down. "Joel!" Ellie said, shocked by the events. "Here, I got you" Ellie said, running forwards to stop me from swinging. "Goddammit Bill" I murmured, figuring out the situation. "What just happened?" She asked. "It's another one of Bill's stupid traps!" I explained. "There- that fridge. It looks like that's the counterweight". "Okay" Ellie said, running to it, she started to move the fridge, "Cut that rope and it'll bring me down!" I called out to her. "On it" She said.

I looked over and saw Ellie on top of the fridge, starting to cut the thick rope. "Joel?" Ellie asked as a loud sound of infected started. I pulled out my gun and got ready to kill some of the infected. "Shit, here they come" I said, getting ready. As one came towards me I shot it in the head, killing it instantly. "Joel!" Ellie shouted, looking over. "Just tend to the rope" I told her.

"Ellie, how's it looking?" I asked, reloading. "I'm going as fast as I can " She shouted back. As two more runners came I shot them both, missing once but killing them as quickly as I could. One more came and I shot it, using two bullets as handing upside down made it very disorientating."Oh fuck" I murmured as another came pounding towards me, luckily I killed it quick. "Ellie!" I shouted as even more came in the room. "Agh. I need a bit more time!" She said. Suddenly a clicker came in, I shot at it quick, but it needed at least three bullets until it was fully down. 

"Any time, Ellie" I said, this time a bit calmer as the amount of infected had reduced for now. "Hold on" She said, ripping at the rope. Ellie had pushed the fridge over accidentally which rose me higher up. "Fuck" She said, as she had fell off the side. "You alright?" I asked. "Yeah!". "C'mon. You can do it" I said, holding my gun, reading for if any more infected came in. And I was right to as two more came in, almost at the same time. One was harder as there was a chain in my way, but I did manage it fully kill it, but of course a whole lot more came in. 

Another clicker came in and it went straight for Ellie, but I already had it down before it touched her. Ellie finally cut through all of the rope and I fell to the ground, "Joel- watch out!" Ellie shouted as a runner came and pushed me to the ground. I kept it's face away from mine when a large knife cut into it's face and then through it's neck. I looked up and saw a large man wearing a gas mask, it was Bill.

"Get off your ass and on your feet" He said, holding a hand out, which I used to get up. We ran out of the area and Bill slammed the door shut. "Alright. This way. Keep up" He said, already leading the way. Suddenly a large amount of clickers and runners came over the fence. "Get back. Get back!" He told Ellie as me and Bill shot at them. "Which way?" I asked, backing up. "Alright- we'll ah... We'll cut through. C'mon- here!" He said, changing directions. "Run Ellie" I told her as we were doing a full on sprint. "Where's that goddamn key?" He asked himself as we came to a locked door, "Guys - behind us!" Ellie shouted.

I shot the infected that were coming towards us as Bill looked for they key. When it was open we all went through and Ellie slammed the door shut. "Don't slow down. This place ain't secure" Bill said, running ahead. "Bill, they're coming through the door!" I shouted. "Fuckin' knew it. Take 'em out. That's our only way out" He told me. "Ellie, stay back! Stay back!" I said as a clicker came through, I shot it quickly, taking it out first, and then I dealt with a runner and a stalker. "Alright, come on - we're almost there. Follow me" Bill said, leading out again.
