The Last Of Us (Fan-Fic)

Summer- Chapter Two- Part 16 High School Escape

The house was quite large, so I took the moment to look for supplies. I found a Firefly pendant, so I guessed a Firefly may have been here. The stairs were blocked off with wooden furniture, I was sure that people probably locked themselves up there are died, I had seen that sort of stuff before. In the garage there was scissors, tape and even a few screws. I was re-stocked now, so I jumped out the window, shotgun ready in my hand. We went under the fence and to a garden where there was a children's play-set which has with time gone brown.

As I walked forwards there was another clicker in sight, in fact a clicker and a runner. I didn't know the runner had spotted me until it ran up to me, I quickly shot it and Bill took care of the clicker. It seemed we were making a lot of noise as two more runners came after us. We took care of them as soon as, shooting them in the head. I gathered up the spare ammo lying around, and loaded them into my gun. "If you guys would give me a gun, I could help you kill some of these fuckers" Ellie complained.

"Shut up. Just shut up" Joel whispered, sternly to her. I looked around the over-grown garden that was filled with weeds everywhere you looked, there was a open garage filled with screws and even a few arrows for my bow. We went through to the next house and I pushed open a white door, although it didn't budge. "It's tied on the other side" I said, seeing the white rope. "What about going through here" Ellie asked, pointing at the small door. "What the doggy door?" Bill asked. "Be very careful" I told her, removing the planks that covered it.

"Of course" She said, crawling through the dog door. "Maybe you should've given her a gun" Bill admitted, noticing her usefulness. "Okay, Bill" I said, annoyed that he would agree with her on the one thing I didn't want him to. Ellie got the rope off and opened the door, "There's more of those clicker things inside the house" Ellie said, keeping her voice low. Outside there was more furniture, sofas, tables and even parts of a bed. "Careful" Ellie said as we came close to two clickers standing still outside the house. I threw a bottle that would make the closest clicker leave that side of the house, leaving me to be able to go inside. 

Inside there was another clicker, and like the others it was standing still. I decided that I would stealth past it for the time being, not wanting to create any unnecessary sound. Ellie was right, there was another clicker in a different room. This made me go slower and quieter, I looked at the floor ever so often, checking there was no glass that I could accidentally step on. We all came out the other side of the house,with none of us hurt. 

"Alright, c'mon, let's get up. On the RV and over. We should be clear" Bill said as we all climbed on top of the RV. We walked over a plank which let us get into a tree house without jumping. "Who the hell left this here? You got friends in town?" Ellie asked. "No. Although I got some idea who mighta come through here" Bill murmured. We jumped down into another backyard, this one had a empty swimming pool, and a house with sliding doors. "School's on the other side of this house. Let's get inside" Said, Bill, entering the house.

"C'mon Ellie" I said, not wanting her to get left behind. When I was in the dining room I quickly made a Molotov with the supplies that I had  collected, I saw that I was also able to make a nail bomb, which I did  because it would be useful for killings groups of infected. Even after all of that I still had enough to make a shiv and a health pack. I went back into the kitchen to pick up a alcohol bottle I had to leave before, as I had too much in my backpack. "Hey, Joel" Bill shouted from across the hallway.

"Yeah?" I asked, walking up to him. On the way I picked up another shiv and a couple arrows. "Gimme a hand with this" He said, next to a shutter. I bent down with Bill and lifted the shutter door up which made quite a loud sound. Once we all got under it we hid behind a car seeing as there were infected up ahead. "What'd I tell ya" Bill said as he peeked over the top of the car. "There's that truck, sticking outta the school right there" He said pointing at it.

I started to gon forwards, bow and arrow in my hands. "There's a bunch of 'em up there. So try not to make a sound" Bill reminded me. I threw a Molotov, mistaking it for a bottle close to me, but when the closest runner came to see what it was, it caught on fire and died. Unfortunately it seemed that all made too much sound as a runner from the other side came running out at me. I used the bat I had picked up a while ago to stab into it's neck as it had scissors on the end. The next runner it killed with brutal force as I couldn't get any of my guns out quick enough.

Another two came running out at us, Bill took on the first, slashing it's neck with his blade and I hit the other repeatedly with my bat. I hadn't seen another runner come up to me, I punched it in the face, making him step back, so I hit it again, making him take another step back. When the runner was close to a car, I took it's face in my palm and smashed it into one of the car's windows. As I had finished up with the last infected, another came up to me, so I used the same tactic, crushing it's face.

I patched myself up and listened out and couldn't hear any infected, I was thankful that there wasn't any clickers in sight. We ran towards the truck, going past many yellow school buses. As I looked around the side for another entrance to the truck, a hoard of runners came towards me. "Ellie, run! Run!" I told her as I kicked the runner out of my way. "Oh, they're coming from everywhere!" Ellie said as we tried to run back. 

I killed off two runner as they both came towards me, next I had to take out a runner that was trying to bite Ellie. I tried to run, but I couldn't figure out a way round and there was runners chasing behind me. I killed the first few, but there seemed to be endless amounts of them. After all of them were taken care of, we all stopped to take a breather. "Well that was easier than I thought it'd be. They must be holed up somewhere else" Bill said, putting his blade back. "Well, let's not test our luck. How do we get inside?" I asked. "Someone left a ladder on the bus. Here, get me up there and i'll drop it to you" Ellie suggested. I put my bow and arrow back in my backpack and lifted Ellie up, onto the top of the bus. 

"Don't get killed up there" Bill said, "Thanks, Bill" She replied. Ellie quickly, and carefully lifted the ladder down for us to climb up. "We're okay. We just need to get to the hood of the truck" Bill said. I couldn't tell if he was talking to us or himself anymore, to be honest it didn't really matter. "Shit. You hear that?" Bill asked when we dropped down. "They're coming. Move it kid" He shouted. Me and Ellie dashed behind Bill as he led the way. "Alright, we're gonna get in quick. We're gonna get the battery. We're gonna get the hell outta here" Bill murmured as he ran. "Oh fuck. They're piling on this fence over here. It's not gonna hold" Ellie said as she saw the amount of infected there were.

"We have to get inside to get the battery!" Bill shouted back, we went round the side of the house and Bill got on top of a box, tugging at the window. "I got it- window's open! Hurry!" He shouted, going in himself. I made sure Ellie went before me and when I got in a clicker jumped on my back, I was able to elbow it in the face and push it off of my back, but it grabbed my leg. "Joel!" Ellie panicked. "Alright, come on!" Bill said, pulling me through which made me nearly land on my face. Bill shot the clicker and Ellie shut the window, hoping no more would get through.

"That's not gonna hold" Ellie said. "Bill, make it fast!" I told him, picking myself up. The runner pounded on the door, "Grab this" I told Ellie as we pushed a heavy object in front of the door. "Please tell me you're done!" I shouted, holding the door down with force as well. Bill lifted the hood of the truck up and looked inside, "It's empty" He said quietly. "What?" I asked, walking forwards. "It's fucking empty". "Guys!" Ellie panicked as she tried to hold the door down. "Bill, where to?" I asked. "Anywhere but here" He said. "Get ready to haul ass. C'mon" I told Ellie, running with her and Bill out the that room.
