Sponsorship Battle Task

"I swear, nothing's changed with you, Magoichi-kun. Still as reckless as ever!" Hideyoshi pointed out.

Magoichi rolled his eyes at the same moment that he rolled forward, firing his arquebus at an enemy samurai. "You know I love taking a risk!" Magoichi threw his arms out on the right and left in order to keep his balance. 

"Risk" was a bit of an understatement. Magoichi and Hideyoshi's squads had both been tasked with holding a bridge against the Tokugawa forces. Magoichi had insisted on guarding the bridge while fighting on it, and naturally Hideyoshi hadn't been planning on abandoning his best friend. 

Rolling forward on a swinging bridge that barely held itself together was probably not Magoichi's idea. 

Another enemy samurai charged toward Magochi, but his back was turned. One was coming toward Hideyoshi's back. At the same time that Magoichi shot the samurai behind Hideyoshi, Hideyoshi stabbed the one attacking Magoichi. 

Magoichi turned to avoid his friend's spear, which caused his left foot to slip. "Whoa!" Magoichi screamed, looking at the ground hundreds of feet below him.

Hideyoshi reached the first thing he could grab - Magochi's pants - yanking him back up onto the bridge. Both men slumped, sighing in relief and laughing together. 

"Just like old times, friend," Magoichi said.

Hideyoshi grinned.

Welcome, everyone, to the sponsorship battle task! 

Here is a list of who's attacking who (unfortunately, there were only about four of you who actually selected a clan, meaning I still have to assign the majority of you. I'm going to have to make up a rule about that for the next battle task). 

Clan 1: Miyoshi is attacking Clan 5: Ashikaga (defending)

Clan 2: Kyou Asai is attacking Clan 9: Naoki Hojo (defending)

Clan 3: Kairi Saito is attacking Clan 15: Toshihiro Ukita (defending)

Clan 4: Jyubei Takeda is attacking Clan 6: Takeo Rokaku (defending)

Clan 8: Hirotei Imagawa is attacking Clan 11: Oka Mori (defending)

Clan 13: Ren Sanada  is attacking Clan 14: Yuudai Kato (defending)

Clan 12: Kagekatsu Uesugi is attacking Clan 10: Setsuka Matsunaga (defending)

Next battle task, I'll start taking off points for anyone who doesn't comment a task (I think it's obvious that I don't like assigning them). 

Here, then, is your battle task:

Your clan is either attacking or defending from another small clan like yourself (this has already been decided. If you're unsure about this, PM me right away). 

If you are attacking, you have the option of taking TWO different types of units with you to attack:

- Spearmen

- Swordsmen

- Mounted Swordsmen

- Archers

- Monks (if you did this option in the sponsorship task)

- Ronin (this is an entire unit in an army and separate from the ones you buy. They have a collection of different weapons, and you can only have these if you did the ronin option in the sponsorship task).

If you're defending you have to choose TWO of the above options and have to defend against them in open battle using TWO other types of your own.

EVERYONE, keep in mind that since this is a practice battle task, I'm allowing you to simply take the battle units. In a normal battle task, you'd have to choose to buy them.

The location is an open field on the border between both your lands.

Penalties:

Clan 1: Miyoshi and Clan 5: Ashikaga. Because you didn't hand in the regular task, here is your penalty:

You must face TWO of the units above, WITHOUT ANY of your own. Your word count has also been lessened to 900.

Those of you who scored from 7th to 9th place (Mori, Rokkaku, and Uesugi): A plague has hit your clan, and as a result troop numbers have been lowered to 1,750 (another words lowered by 250). Also, the plague has also kept you from hiring new units. Another words: you may only choose ONE unit to help you either attack or defend, while still facing up against TWO units from your opponent. 

Those who scored from 3rd to 6th place (Saito, Ukita, Matsunaga, and Sanada): A horrible storm is coming soon, which means you know you have to finish this battle quickly, in order to save your army.  Another words: you all have a shorter deadline. May 29th, 4pm central.

Awards:

Those who scored in 2nd place (Asai, Takeda, Hojo, Kato): A family member has come through with an alliance to a smaller clan. As a result, you're able to hire ONE more unit to help you either attack or defend. Another words, instead of two units to help you, you now have THREE you can choose.

Those who scored in first place (Imagawa only since Askura won immunity and won't participate): You have captured a spy from your enemy. The information you were able to get out of him helped you intercept one unit from your enemy, which you were able to turn around and use yourself. Another words: Oka Mori has only ONE unit she can choose, and you now have THREE.
