Now that we're just waiting for the remaining character forms, I can start giving you guys detailed information.
Every clan owns a piece of land in Japan, and in this competition, it's called the same name as your clan. For instance, Nobunaga owns the Oda province. You can call it the real thing if you want to do the research, but you could make it easier on yourself if you want.
Along with this piece of land, includes one major castle which is the castle where your clan's daiymo lives, located in the capital city. Your land can have as many castles as you want (within reason), and it will also have other forts and places to defend. Every clan starts off with the same defenses, numbers of troops and income. Here is a list of what every clan starts off with:
- 2,000 troops. These are regular samurai soldiers.
- At least one castle with stone walls, and a basic closed gate in the typical Japanese-style design. To make this easier, everyone starts with a level 1 castle. You can increase it all the way up to level 10. So if you're a level 3 up against a level 10, your chances aren't very good.
- 1,000 gold in income (okay they didn't really use gold, but I'm trying to make it as easy as possible.
- 2 highly trained ronin
- 1 month's worth of supplies
Like I mentioned before, after every task is scored, you can PM me the information of what you have, and say that you want to use part or all of your income to buy something new (either more troops, more supplies, more ronin or to fortify your defenses), or you could save it. Before each battle task, you'll also have certain options of what you can buy specifically to use on that battle task, so you might want to save some, rather than spending all your clan's income.
YOU MUST KEEP TRACK OF THIS INFORMATION. I can't keep track of 15 different ones. I would suggest writing it down somewhere or typing it out and updating it as it changes. Please, I cannot stress how important it is for you to know this. This information will factor in to how I determine who wins each battle task. So this is literally what your lives depend on.
Now, since I score out of 13, here is a list of the scores and how much gold each score will award you.
1-5 -This will award you 20 gold
6-8 - This will award you 50 gold
9-10 - This will award you 100 gold
11-12 - This will award you 500 gold
13 - This will award you 1,000 gold
Remember if you don' hand in on regular tasks, you'll be given a penalty for the battle task, which will almost always result in you losing. If you don't hand in a battle task, you lose and you're automatically eliminated.
If you do this or decide to drop out, I have two writers on reserve who actually wanted, but didn't get a spot in the competition. They're actually going to be handing in entries to me that I'll read, and post on here, but they won't be able to be judged, and they won't be apart of the competition. If anyone decides to drop out, though, I'll give your spot to these writers. Their characters are ronin hired by certain clans. IF ANYONE WANTS TO, YOU CAN ALSO USE YOUR INCOME TO HIRE ONE OF THEIR RONIN. This means you can literally use your income to pay them to help you critique entries, work with you, help you, whatever you want. Just like with anything else you can buy, you will PM this to me whenever scores come out after each task.
Your clan's income and your troop number can decrease with penalties. These include penalties because of handing in entries late, ballot penalties, or going over word count.
Here is a list of how much gold each specific thing costs.
1 soldier costs 3 gold. This means that 200 soldiers would cost 600 gold. 500 would cost 1,500 gold. Please, please don't decide to buy an odd number. Make sure it has a zero on the end. The minimum amount of soldiers you can buy is 100.
Fortifying your defenses one level costs 900 gold
1 highly trained ronin costs 250 gold
1 month's worth of supplies costs 500 gold
This is new and a lot of information so don't be afraid to comment with questions or concerns (especially since I can be very forgetful sometimes).
