Yeri bowed with Koeun, the two being in complete unison. "Hello, we are your new trainees."
"I'm Yeri." Yeri announced herself and glanced at Koeun who introduced herself as well.
The man who was standing in front of them smiled and gave them little claps. "It's really nice to meet the two of you." He said. "I am Trainer Shin and I will be evaluating you today to see what we will have to help you with once your training starts."
The two nodded. It reminded Yeri of the monthly checkups that SM would have at the end of every month to make sure that they were improving every month.
Koeun decided to start. She sang a song that she had been practicing since she left SM. Miracle in December by EXO.
Yeri admired how she suited the song extremely well. Whenever Koeun sang a song, even though she had never had a song of her own, she was able to make the original sound like a cover instead of her own version being the cover.
"That was really beautiful, Koeun." Trainer Shin scribbled something on the clipboard that he was holding. "Do you have any dance prepared?"
Koeun performed something that she learned when she was still in SM. It was Koeun's favorite dance and she couldn't forget the dance no matter how long it has been since she was training.
Trainer Shin watched her carefully. Yeri couldn't help but think that he was more experienced in the dance department than singing. The way that his eyes went to the right body part at the right time, made Yeri think that he knew how to analyze dances.
He thanked Koeun for her performance and focused his attention to Yeri. "Can you please sing for me?"
Yeri nodded and sang her favorite Ariana Grande song. She knew that her pronunciation wasn't the best but she knew that she could put her heart and soul into the song.
After she sang, she performed a dance that she made herself. Her dancing was her strong suit which was made obvious when Trainer Shin showed a bright smile on his face throughout her whole performance.
Yeri bowed once she was done and Trainer Shin scribbled one last thing on his paper and looked at the girls with warmness, something that was foreign to them since they were used to the cold stares that was offered in SM.
"Well girls, I was told to not be expecting too much from the two of you, but I wasn't expecting to be so impressed with the two of you." He glanced at his notes.
"Koeun." He said. "Your singing is extremely good. There was a lot of emotion in your voice, but as always I want you to improve with your dancing."
Koeun nodded, knowing that his judging was fair.
"And Yeri, I was impressed with your singing. Like I said, I wasn't expecting much with the singing, but you were a lot better than I assumed. You picked a song that fit your voice and I believe that you would fit well in a group. Your dancing was also exceptional." He said.
"You are a lot more advanced than our other trainees. I will be discussing this with the seniors at the company, but I believe that you two would be great as our last 2 missing members in the group." He flashed a smile. "But just for today, I will be teaching you a dance that I choreographed myself."
--
"We need them in the group." Trainer Shin said to the table of executives. "Look at this footage." He said as he pulled up a video of the girls learning the whole dance in one day. "They learned the dance just today."
"We understand that they would be good additions to the group." Mr. Kim folded his hands on the table. "But we need to convince them."
"Convince them?" Trainer Shin asked. "I thought that they were motivated to debut as soon as possible."
"I tried to get them to join the group right away but they said that they want to prove themselves before they are just added to the group." Mrs. Hong said, remembering how Yeri and Koeun reacted once she told them they will be debuting in two months.
"But we don't have time to train them in the way that they want to be." Someone on the other side of the table stated. "They want to be trained like everyone else, but they also need to get accustomed to the other girls."
"That's why we need to convince them as soon as possible." Mrs. Hong glanced at Trainer Shin. "Do you think that you can convince them?"
Trainer Shin thought for a moment. He didn't know what he could tell them to make them want to join. He was sure that Mrs. Hong and the others pulled out all of their fancy tricks to make the girls want to be added.
"Do they understand that we need two more girls to be added in two months to debut?" He asked.
Mrs. Hong nodded. "They know everything. They simply want to be treated as an equal."
Trainer Shin was afraid that she would say that. "What if I train them as hard as I can in the week? Then once we bring up debuting again, they might be a bit more motivated to get out of the hell that training brings?"
"That might just work." The CEO of Jellyfish said. "We can scare them into being in the group."
Mrs. Hong sighed. "I don't know what else we could do."
Trainer Shin smiled and dismissed himself early from the meeting. He had to plan the worst training system the world has ever seen.
